Project: New Man

New Man Close-upDave Davison A.K.A. New Man –Project: New Man is a partly secret joint venture of the U.S. Government and the Fortress Foundation, a private sector non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to public defense and scientific research. Dave Davison is the subject of Project: New Man. Dave has the dual role of being part of the research project and at the same time being groomed by the Government as a public protector in the Five Lakes Megalopolis area operating out of Five lakes largest city, New Harbour. Dave has a dark past which he hoped was dead and buried but in his first public adventure he had to confront his past and an old partner.

New Man 1 Cover

Before Project: New Man Dave was know as David “Killer” Kane a mercenary who was part of a Special Task Force in the last days of the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the military he continued to take contracts both secretly for government factions as well as privately. His last contract went wrong and an innocent person was accidentally killed instead of the target. Even “Killer” Kane had a code he lived by, so having taken an innocent’s life he turned himself in. This did not sit well with his former bosses in th corrupt government factions which sanctioned his as well as the other Killer Elite’s actions. Deeming it to risky to do away with Kane they arranged for him to participate in a secret government sponsored experiment, one which was very likely to end in Kane’s death. An agent was secretly assigned to make sure Kane would not survive. Unexpectantly to the corrupt officials and the agent, Kane survived as Project: New Man actually worked! Now the corrupt factions would have to play along with their honest peers so as to not expose their covert operations.

New Man 2 Cover

Kane was given a new identity and all records show David “Killer” Kane was executed in prison. Dave, as he is now called, hoped that now his past was forever buried. He soon found that his former corrupt bosses were still concerned that Dave’s sudden moral awakening, which began when he turned himself in and increased with the success of the experiment, would eventually end with Dave outing them. So plans were secretly extended to reverse Project: New Man and end Dave’s life and the threat he posed forever.

New Man 1 Page 5

Dave Davison is an identity know to the public at large as being synonymous with New Man, so even though Dave Davison’s real name of David Kane is a secret, David Davison is not a secret identity of New Man but part of the public persona of Project: New Man.

New Man has the power to harness a Unified Field consisting of equal parts of Gravity, Electrical and Magnetic forces. He uses the field to augment his natural strength, which was increased to near perfect human standards as a side effect of the experiment. This, among other occurrences, during the experiment is a mystery to the scientists over Project: New Man. New Man also uses the Unified Field to erect shields for protection and propel him through the air with tremendous leaps which to some would appear to be actual flight.

New Man is headquartered at the Moriah Building owned by the Fortress Foundation. He shares space with his research doctors and trainers.

Supporting Cast:

Thunder Hawks– An elite squadron known as the Thunder Hawks on special detachment in the Vietnam War. The surviving members are Dr. Jonathan Thunderstorm, Dr. Thomas Jeffery McBride, and Percival Patton Parker. They are the 3 remaining members of the original 9. Currently they are working with the  Fortress Foundation under a joint contract with the U.S. Government. They are officially listed as Military Reservists.

Chief Thunder Close-up

Dr. Jonathan Thunderstorm– Is often known by his nickname “Chief Thunder” partly due to his Cherokee heritage and partly because of his accomplishments in so many different fields. He has degrees in several sciences as well as Physical Education. He is a master at nearly every Martial Art known and accomplished in several sports. He had the opportunity to play football in college and would have been a first round draft pick in the NFL had he chosen to continue in that direction. He served with honors in Vietnam in an elite squadron known as the Thunder Hawks with his friends and colleagues Dr. Thomas Jeffery McBride, and Percival Patton Parker. They are the 3 remaining members of the original 9. Chief Thunder is one of the original members of the team of scientists and doctors with Project: New Man. he also serves on the Board of Directors for the Fortress Foundation and is head of security with the Foundation. He is headquartered and residences in the city of New Harbour at the Moriah Building.

Fawn Close-up

Dr. Fawn Wilfred-The founding geneticist of Project: New Man. Fawn also hold degrees in several sciences and has been the recipient many awards for discoveries in her field. She was one of the pioneers on the early research teams for the The Human Genome Project. Her work got the attention of E.D.G.E., the Executive Department for Genetic Engineering. She was soon made an offer to work exclusively for them on secret projects which lead her to eventually head up Project: New Man. Dr. Wilfred is the founder of the team of scientists and doctors working on Project: New Man. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Fortress Foundation. She is headquartered and residences in the city of New Harbour at the Moriah Building.

Nick Close-up

Dr. Nicholas Rafferty– He is often called Saint Nick by his friends and family for his resemblance to Santa Clause but also be cause of his quite, kind gentle nature. However it should be noted when those he holds dear are threatened he can be a real bear but not of the “Teddy” variety! He is a master geneticist and has been Fawn’s mentor and father figure since her first  day in college. He also has interests in other sciences, which is not uncommon for those who have been a part of Project: New Man, including Astrophysics. His first calling was that of a medical doctor which he still defaults to often in his work but he has not had a public practice in many years.

Rolph Close-up

Dr. Hubert Rolph– A physicist of little renown. Although very intelligent, Dr. Rolph, for some reason, would always fall just short of perfection in his field. Some would call him a hack, he would work hard but always be seeking out shortcuts and using unusual, even suspicious pull from influential people to get promotions, obtain grants and access to areas most others on his level were denied. It was for the later reasons that he was involved in Project: New Man. Since his suspicious tampering with the settings of the New Birth Chamber during a critical juncture in the processing of test subject Dave Davison, Dr. Rolph was discharged from his duties by his supervisor, Dr. Fawn Wilfred. Some the E.D.G.E. Board of Directors were not pleased with this but were overruled by the majority. Little is know of Dr. Rolph’s family life and he appears to have few friends. While working on Project: New Man he kept to himself and was often in conflict with the other members of the team especially Dr. Wilfred. His whereabouts after leaving the Project have been unknown.

Tom Thumb Close-up

Dr. Thomas Jeffery McBride– Also known among friends as Tom Thumb. However, one had better be a friend before calling the hot tempered Irish, Master Chemist by his nick name. In spite of his small stature, according to Tom, and to the best most who know him remember, he has never been beaten in a fair fight regardless of his opponents size. It is believed that he uses certain chemical compounds to tip the scales in his favor.

Kamikazi Close-up

Percival Patton Parker– He is so seldom called by his given name that he will, at times, not even respond if called by it. Kamikaze is his name of choice one which he has had for many years even before his skills as an ace pilot in Vietnam won him many medals and citations as well as a slot on the Thunder Hawks team.  If someone makes reference to the name kamikaze meaning someone who is crazy he is quick to point out the term from the original Japanese means “Divine Wind”. In most cases this does not change the opinion of the critic. Kamikaze’s mom is Japanese and his dad of British decent. Both were American citizens before Kamikaze was born. He is an only child.

Bearcat Close-up

Emmanuel Reyes A.K.A. Bearcat– His Uncle Louie raised him as a son after Emmanuel’s parents were killed in an auto accident. As long as Emmanual can remember Uncle Louie has had a salvage business supplied by a huge junkyard located on the outskirts of Municiple City. Since he was very small Emmanuel has always scavenged items of use from Uncle Louie’s junkyard and assembled devises of one sort or another. Some of a practical nature and useful, but always somewhat eccentric in design and function. His greatest invention has been Micromail, an almost impentrible fabric which is lightweight and elastic and made from another discovery of Emmanual’s research called Plastanium. Emmanuel wanted to put the materials through the harshest tests possible before considering marketing the discoveries. Inspired by the reports of the adventurer New Man, as well as other reports of recently surfacing super powered adventurers, Emmanual came up with a the name Bearcat and a uniform formed from Micromail. he often assists the Fortress Foundation, the Thunder Hawks and New Man in an unsanctioned capacity. He hopes he might be asked to be a part of the operations in an official capacity someday.

Emmanuel headquarters in an old shack in Uncle Louie’s Junk Yard where it appears he also lives, and has recently been granted a space to work in the Moriah Building by Chief Thunder. Thunder is attempting to have Bearcat added to the security staff of the Fortress Fighters.

Max Close-upAbraham Moses Maxwell– Max is what everyone calls him. He is Dave’s closest friend and spiritual advisor. The two met at the Rockwell Temporary Holding Facility. Max was serving a minimum sentence for helping some young folks who were in trouble with the law. David “Killer” Kane was awaiting transfer to another prison, as he was on Death Row. At first Dave had little to do with Max, he had just talked to the warden and been offered his role in Project: New Man. Dave suspected Project: New Man might be just a set up by his old bosses to get him out of the way faster. At lunch time Max shared his faith and spoke to Dave that things would soon change for him. Dave thought Max knew something about the warden’s offer but later realized Max was speaking from his heart of things he perceived for Dave’s life. After the experiment which transformed Dave into New Man, he got permission and asked Max to be his advisor at the Fortress Foundation. Max now resides at the Moriah Building and is part of Project: New Man.

Omnispawn Close-up

Omnispawn– The personal embodiment, or personification, of the residuum reality known as the Khosmotic Conjunction. Itself being a conjunction of sentient, cosmic forces left over from the event of manifest reality, known as the “Big Bang.” In a nutshell, the source, from whence all things sprung, is still unfolding itself. Evolutionary processes serving as testament to this fact. Omnispawn is the manifest agent of the Khosmotic Conjunction. Omnispawn’s mission within the earth dimension, is to jump-start evolutionary forces within individuals whom are deemed prepared for the process refered to as “Khosmotic Regeneration.” Omnispawn’s secondary objective is tutoring those who become “Khosmotically Endowed.”

Herald Close-up

The Herald – Somewhat of an enigma, even to himself, the Herald’s primary purpose is serving as the Khosmotic’s Adjudicator. a sort of judge over all those Khosmotically Endowed. His is the ability to render judgement, and if necessary, to nullify the Khosmotic’s Essence within individuals. a force known as “Khosmenergy”. (pronoucnced: coz-men-ur-gee) unlike others who are empowered, the Herald does not recall his former identity. This state of amnesia is directly tied to his mandate as the Khosmotic’s Adjudicator.

Humants 1 CoverMageddon – The spoiler of forces which maintain dimensional integrity. Mageddon is a creature driven by dark forces he has yet to comprehend. He is also driven to know why he is what he is.
There is also the mystery of the human host, Devlin Delano, whom seems to be somehow a part of Mageddon’s very being. It is assumed that the robotics engineer managed to serve as a dimension portal, through which Mageddon’s essence was granted access into the earth realm.
Within Mageddon’s ability is the means to empower those with unsavory moral characteristics. As those he empowers draw upon Mageddon’s essence to go about their selfish, dasterly deeds, Mageddon is somehow energized from their menevolent exploits. This dark essence is called “Negamenergy”. Which is actually Khosmenergy drawn upon for selfish purposes. Thus, the self-less use of Khosmenergy, radiates a pulse within the earth dimension that sickens & weakens Mageddon.

Man-Ark Close-up

Man-Ark – Tony Donaldson, was once a seasoned construction worker. Due to an unfortunate accident on a project site, Tony suffered injuries which tragically, left him paralyzed from the waist down. No longer able to support himself or assist in the care of his aging parents, Tony sunk into a psychological abyss. The results of which nearly claimed his life on more than one occasion. Strength and self reliance, had always been the corner stones of Tony’s world view. Without which, he could not muster the will to continue living. nearly three years of wallowing in the dismal quagmire of self pity, anger and utter despair. Upon receiving word of his beloved mother’s death, Tony experiences a sudden surge of what might be called, transcendent clarity. It is only momentary, and beyond his ability to explain, interpret or even account for. Yet it’s inexplicably occurrence manages to shift Tony’s perception of the meaning of his existence. That night, Tony is greeted by the trans-dimensional entity which calls himself…Omnispawn.

Chosta Close-up

Chaosta – Janeta Rosebud always considered herself the “Black Sheep” member of a socially prominent family. The source of struggle in Janeta’s existence has always been that of her innate care-free personality, and her inner desire to gain her conservative father’s acceptance. Having always been a strong willed person, Janeta has determined to live her life as she she’s fit, and to resist pressures to conform to expected paradigms. Perhaps it is her determinate resolve which initially summoned the fateful Khosmotic visitation, the results of which would forever change Janeta’s outlook on the world in which she is a integral part.

Sojourner Close-up

Sojourner – Although he was born in America, Haji Allam, spent much of his childhood in Egypt. His father being an Egyptian national. Haji’s love of the Egyptian world, and especially it’s ancient philosophical undercurrent, was boundless, but his mother was American, and in many ways, so too was he. He grew fond and quickly mastered several African Martial Art forms, which are little known in the West. Such as the ancient fighting styles of Sebekkah and Tahtib. More so for the sport, than actual self defense reasons. Some time after repatriating to America, Haji found himself at a loss of his sense of direction in life. It was during one of his ritualistic morning meditations, that a cloaked, enigmatic figure suddenly appeared, as if from his own subconscious. Haji was not certain why the being had appeared, but he knew that the visitation was one for which he had long sought.
