Legacy Comics Friday Updates, but NO WEEKEND UPDATES!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

New Man 3 Pg 29 Panel 3

No MCG, Project: New Man, or Humants updates this weekend. We’ve got some maintenance to do on the sites. Next week: we’ll wrap up Project: New Man #3 and get ready to start the conclusion to The Haunted Man in Project: New Man #4!

Project New Man # 3: So the battle between New Man and the Thunder Hawks with Cyber-Tech is over, and the mad cyborg is subdued thanks to the inventiveness of Emmanual Reyes, a.k.a. Bearcat, and Thomas “Tom Thumb” McBride, along with the resourcefulness of Jonathan Thunderstorm.

Ah, but that’s not the end of the story. Now we have learned some interesting clues to where the tech for the cyborg came from. It’s a link that will eventually have the paths of New Man and the Thunder Hawks cross with that of Omnispawn and the Humants! Check out today’s update to see what I’m talking about.

Humants #3: We met Janeta Rosebud last issue and right off the bat I’m sure you saw the same thing I did. She’s a bit of a rebel! But having met her Dad and sister last issue as well, it’s not hard to see why. Nothing is harder on the rebel than having a strong father who really cares for her, albeit with some selfish motives of his own, and tries to shelter her. In turn the father’s attitude just fuels her ambition to get out on her own and prove herself, to be as strong, as independent and in short to be just like the authority she’s rebelling against! Talk about a paradox!Humants 3 Page 3 Panel 1 Close Up

So, okay, here we have little happy, go, lucky Janeta, the rebel, wanting desperately to have the power to stand up and prove herself, and suddenly, un-expectantly she has more than she ever dreamed possible! Whew! Hang on, folks, this could be a wild ride!

Have good weekend! :-)

Legacy Comics Monday Updates & Frequency Question

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

New Man 3 Pg 30 Panel 2

Welcome back! Glad you could join us again! Let’s see what’s happening in today’s comics updates!

Project New Man # 3:

Today’s page is the last of this chapter of The Haunted Man. Dave and the Thunder Hawks ponder Cyber-Tech’s links to Ebeneezer Baal and Devlin Robotics. It’s beginning to look like there is much more to this than New Man just tracking a clever crime lord.

We have a couple special pages and the back covers coming up then next week on to Project: New Man #4!

Humants #3:

Janeta Rosebud muses over the transformation she has experienced as she searches for the other Humants, who she has been told by Omnispawn to join up with.

In her efforts she is distracted and not being used to having super powers…well, hurry on over and check it out to see what happens to our newest Humant.

Humants 3 Page 4 Panel 3 Close Up

Well, we did not get as much done over the weekend as we had hoped. There were some things which came up that were not in the plan. So we adjust and move on. Hope yours went easier! But it’s a new week and so we begin again!

We may have to take off another weekend or 2 to get caught up. MCG usually updates 7 days a week, even though most other web comics only update 5 or 6 days every week. There is a lot of work in the background to maintain the sites and keep the new pages coming out regularly. We would like your comments on the frequency of the strip. Is 7 days a week just right, too much or GULP!…not enough? Let us know. You can leave a comment on this article or go to the Left Sidebar down to the Mega Comics Group Wall and leave a comment. If you had prefer to send us an email click on the MCG Contact link at the top of this page and use the form located on that page. We appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from you!

Legacy Comics Tuesday Updates Plus New Feature

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

New Man 3 Pg 31 Panel 1

Welcome back again! Always good to have you with us! Time for Tuesday’s Legacy Comics Updates! Ready? Okay. Let’s go! ;-)

Project New Man # 3:

Here’s a single page adventure Nathan Massengill did for us back in the day. I showed a smaller version of this in on eof the earlier MCG Blogs. I don’t know what inspired it, but I’ve always liked this page showing our hero in a liesure setting. After what he just went through with Cyber-Tech that’s a big switch, and since I know what he’s about to go through it’s a small reprieve, to say the least. So let’s enjoy it while we can!

Of course this is not part of The Haunted Man story line but we had a couple extra slots to fill on this issue and I wanted you to see the larger size version of this page.

We have a special page for Christopher Torres pencils on slate for tomorrow, so don’t go away, it’s sure to be a nice treat as well! Then I’ll show you the inside back cover with a peek at next issue’s cover, also by Mr. Torres, and then the colorful back cover by our own Allan Lewis. Next Monday we’ll begin Project: New Man #4. I can hardly wait! :-)

Humants 3 Page 5 Panel 1 Close Up

Humants #3:

Ah, now let us leave our newest Humant, Chaosta, and check in on those she searches so diligently for. We find them in a Renovated Warehouse which Magistar had managed to rent after pooling the three Khosmotic Warriors’ resources. They discussed doing this in Humants # 2. Remember?

Freazie did some nice one-on-one shots of Man Ark sparring with Sojourner here and we get a nice little bit of exposition on Sojourner’s origin. Now we know the reason for his name. I think Freazie did some nice dialogue here as well as some great pencils!

I think this is mostly Ralph’s and Christopher’ inks with a little background from me on 1 or 2 panels.

Over on the PNM and Humant’s Home Pages you will find an expanded version of the Mighty Mega Comics Group Checklist posted under the comics page. This can’t be seen if you only click on the images above, that action takes you to today’s post. But once there if you click on the Home Page Button in the Menu above the comic you will see what I’m talking about. This Checklist along with the Sidebar Checklist will help new and regular readers navigate to the comics linked in our sites a lot easier. So if this is your first time, those Checklist links will help you catch up. If you’re an old timer, the Checklists will help you go back to your favorite pages to re-read our heroes exploits. Enjoy!

Legacy Comics Wednesday Daily Web Comics Updates

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Humants 3 Page 6 Panel 1Welcome to Wednesday’s addition of the Daily MCG Blogs and Comics!

Humants #3: Things might be getting out of hand with Man Ark and Sojourner’s little sparring match up. You know even when training the competition is high and emotions can get high as well. Magistar looks on with more than a little concern as it seems Sojourner might actually make a greasy spot on the wall of their new Warehouse Training Facility courtesy of Man Ark’s awesome super strength. Soujourner’s super powered martial art skills save his butt with a little help from those crazy cables he can project out of his armbands.

Freazie and Ralph did some great action scenes in this section with backgrounds by Chris and myself.

Project New Man # 3: I wish I could remember the details of how Christopher Torres came to us. We got a lot of submissions through the U.S. Mail. We also talked to a lot of new talent at the cons. When Freazie and I put our heads together we do good too get half a memory for such details between the two of us! ;-)
New Man 3 Pg 32 Panel 2 close-up

Christopher sent us two sample pages and we loved his work! His style was reminiscent of Jim Lee and Rob Liefield, the hot artists at Marvel in the early nineties. We needed help and so after a plotting session or two between Freazie and myself and with Chris, he was off to the races. It didn’t take him long to whip out 20 pages of tight pencils which you just got to read in this issue of Project: New Man #3 and he has more coming in #4.

Don’t be surprised if these turn up inked and dialogued as part of a New Man story soon! Maybe we’ll be fortunate enough to have some more work from him in the months ahead.

Legacy Comics Thursday, Man Ark & New Man # 4 Preview

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Humants 3 Page 7 Panel 2Welcome to Thursday’s dose of the Daily Mega Comics Updates!

Humants #3:

Ah, some more nice training scenes  from our ace penciler Freazie White, Jr. Take a bow, my friend. Great job!

As we did a page or so ago with Sojourner we get a little clue to why Man Ark was give his title by Omnispawn, as well as what exactly his power is.

Whew! Looks like Sojourner might be paying a bit more than we have to glean those bits of information! Here we sit in our comfy office chairs, behind a nice safe computer monitor, while he sweats out the details! Well, knowing the lad’s character I’m sure he’s glad to do it as a service to all mankind! Yeah…right! ;-)

New Man 3 Pg Inside Back Cover

Project New Man # 3:

Here we have the Inside Back Cover to Project: New Man #3 which shows a preview of #4’s cover. I came up with this Next Issue page along with the inside front for Humants # 3 and Freazie loved it so much, he wanted it on every issue thereafter. So I thought, “Well, since the two series will cross over why not use it in New Man’s book as well?” Why not indeed?

The cover for the next issue pretty much outlines what is to come. This is the preliminary rough cover, the finished cover will be…more finished, with color and the whole 10 yards! So stay tuned.

Tomorrow we complete our showcasing of issue # 3 with the Outside Back Cover, we’ll take the weekend off from updating, hopefully to get caught up on some of the web site work, then begin Project: New Man #4! Yes! This is the one we’ve been waiting for! :-D Hah! I love this job!

New Man & Humants Friday Updates! NO WEEKEND UPDATES!

Friday, September 26th, 2008

New Man 3 Pg Back Cover

Welcome to Friday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 3:

Last but not least we have Allan Lewis rendition of Cyber-Tech for the Outside Back Cover. As stated yesterday and earlier in the week, we’ll take the weekend off from updating, to get caught up on some of the web site work.

Monday we begin Project: New Man #4! In that issue we’ll wrap up The Haunted Man story line. We’ll learn the identity of Ebeneezer Baal as New Man has to rescue his friends, face the rage once again of the escaped Cyber-Tech and escape a Death Trap like nothing he has ever faced! Will this be the final Showdown for New Man?

Humants #3:

Sojourner might be martial arts master on a super powered scale but he learned even that has it’s limits against his brother Humant Man Ark!

The Khosmotic Warriors discuss modifying the training facility to better accommodate their exercises. Magistar leaves the two to make financial arrangements for the renovations. But where has The Herald gotten off too? And what about Chaosta? And whatever happened to Scamp? We’ll see all that and more starting Monday. There’s much more character development in this issue especially where Magistar is concerned. Don’t worry we have not forgotten Crystal, or… gulp… Mageddon! They will be showing up in the next few pages as well.

Humants 3 Page 8 Panel 1

Have a great weekend! Hope all goes as well as you planned! Uh, you did make a plan, right? Gotta have a plan, ya know. How else will we know when things don’t go according to plan if we don’t have one to start with, eh? ;-) Yeah, you hadn’t thought of it that way had you? Yes, we have to plan in order to enjoy the frustration of having them all go, not according to plan! Truly it is a paradox! Hah! :-D

Legacy Comics Project: New Man # 4 Begins!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

New Man 4 Cover

Welcome to Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Wow! Freazie and I have been waiting for this for 16 years. Finally Project: New Man # 4 is here! This features not only some more never before published art from Christopher Torres, circa 1992, but also some brand new 2008 art from yours truly! Freazie gets to finish the script and we tie up a lot of loose ends in this issue as The Haunted Man concludes. We find out the true identity of Ebeneezer Baal! Have you guessed who he is yet? He is someone who has been in the New Man story line and we have dropped clues here and there. This issue also has more of  Bearcat in action again, we see the abduction of Fawn and Nick, Cyber-Tech escapes and there is a special secret surprise guest-star! HAH! Yeah, this one has it all! :-D

Humants #3:

Remember Scamp from issue # 1? Well, he’s back and he’s helping out the team as they set up headquarters in the old renovated warehouse Magistar rented. We’ll be seeing more of him in the series. Think of him as the teams resident English Butler, only he’s not English and he’s not really a Butler, but he does tend to the ol’ HQ in there absence. Well, actually he sits around watching DVD’s and TV and eats up all there food, but at least some one is there to answer the phone. Hey! Whadda expect? This is alow rent neighborhood! Geeze!

Humants 3 Page 9 Panel 1

Hope you had a great weekend! We got a ton of work done, which you will be seeing the evidence of soon. We’ve got some big things in the works in the weeks to come so stay tuned for the announcements.

New Man 4 Inside Front Cover

Welcome back. We missed you!  Time for Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Today we have a look at the inside front cover and “Our Story Thus Far” for Project: New Man # 4. This will catch you up to date or just remind you of what we have already covered.

One of the coolest, unsung features of our web comic site is the Archives. You can access the Archives at the menu on the top of this page OR by clicking the calendar in the right sidebar. The menu link takes you to a list of all the pages we have posted of previous issues which is very handy in locating a page by number. I like to use the calendar feature! It shows you thumbnails of several pages at once so you can scroll down to see what page you might want to go to first. Then all you do is click the thumbnail image to go to the full size page. Pretty neat, eh? Beats the heck out of rummaging through all those boxes and bags for a backissue! ;-)

Humants #3:

Scamp and Magistar get to know each other a bit as we learn the back story for both men. Scamp has survived on the streets as an informant until he informed on the wrong crime lord! Magistar, ironically was a cop, now retired, who knew of Scamp and his Information Age business. ;-)

We will continue to take off weekends for the next few weeks anyway. Most strips run only 5 days a week but we really like the idea of having a daily, 7 day a week strip with only taking off occasionally. After we get better caught up we should be able to get back to that.

What do you think? Had you rather have 5 pages a week and skip weekends or do the 7 day thing. Being a web comics reader myself, I have found I like reading the 5 day a week strips better. One comic I read, Sheldon by Dave Kellett, is posted daily but since I read the comics in between assignments at the office I usually have to catch up on the weekend strips on Monday. That can be fun if I’m having a slow work day but not so when I’m really busy. So maybe going to a 5 day a week strip would be better especially for a full page adventure comic such as we run on MCG. Please give us your feedback. Thanks!</
