New Man 3 Pg 31 Panel 1

Welcome back again! Always good to have you with us! Time for Tuesday’s Legacy Comics Updates! Ready? Okay. Let’s go! 😉

Project New Man # 3:

Here’s a single page adventure Nathan Massengill did for us back in the day. I showed a smaller version of this in on eof the earlier MCG Blogs. I don’t know what inspired it, but I’ve always liked this page showing our hero in a liesure setting. After what he just went through with Cyber-Tech that’s a big switch, and since I know what he’s about to go through it’s a small reprieve, to say the least. So let’s enjoy it while we can!

Of course this is not part of The Haunted Man story line but we had a couple extra slots to fill on this issue and I wanted you to see the larger size version of this page.

We have a special page for Christopher Torres pencils on slate for tomorrow, so don’t go away, it’s sure to be a nice treat as well! Then I’ll show you the inside back cover with a peek at next issue’s cover, also by Mr. Torres, and then the colorful back cover by our own Allan Lewis. Next Monday we’ll begin Project: New Man #4. I can hardly wait! 🙂

Humants 3 Page 5 Panel 1 Close Up

Humants #3:

Ah, now let us leave our newest Humant, Chaosta, and check in on those she searches so diligently for. We find them in a Renovated Warehouse which Magistar had managed to rent after pooling the three Khosmotic Warriors’ resources. They discussed doing this in Humants # 2. Remember?

Freazie did some nice one-on-one shots of Man Ark sparring with Sojourner here and we get a nice little bit of exposition on Sojourner’s origin. Now we know the reason for his name. I think Freazie did some nice dialogue here as well as some great pencils!

I think this is mostly Ralph’s and Christopher’ inks with a little background from me on 1 or 2 panels.

Over on the PNM and Humant’s Home Pages you will find an expanded version of the Mighty Mega Comics Group Checklist posted under the comics page. This can’t be seen if you only click on the images above, that action takes you to today’s post. But once there if you click on the Home Page Button in the Menu above the comic you will see what I’m talking about. This Checklist along with the Sidebar Checklist will help new and regular readers navigate to the comics linked in our sites a lot easier. So if this is your first time, those Checklist links will help you catch up. If you’re an old timer, the Checklists will help you go back to your favorite pages to re-read our heroes exploits. Enjoy!

Legacy Comics Wednesday Daily Web Comics Updates

Humants 3 Page 6 Panel 1Welcome to Wednesday’s addition of the Daily MCG Blogs and Comics!

Humants #3: Things might be getting out of hand with Man Ark and Sojourner’s little sparring match up. You know even when training the competition is high and emotions can get high as well. Magistar looks on with more than a little concern as it seems Sojourner might actually make a greasy spot on the wall of their new Warehouse Training Facility courtesy of Man Ark’s awesome super strength. Soujourner’s super powered martial art skills save his butt with a little help from those crazy cables he can project out of his armbands.

Freazie and Ralph did some great action scenes in this section with backgrounds by Chris and myself.

Project New Man # 3: I wish I could remember the details of how Christopher Torres came to us. We got a lot of submissions through the U.S. Mail. We also talked to a lot of new talent at the cons. When Freazie and I put our heads together we do good too get half a memory for such details between the two of us! 😉
New Man 3 Pg 32 Panel 2 close-up

Christopher sent us two sample pages and we loved his work! His style was reminiscent of Jim Lee and Rob Liefield, the hot artists at Marvel in the early nineties. We needed help and so after a plotting session or two between Freazie and myself and with Chris, he was off to the races. It didn’t take him long to whip out 20 pages of tight pencils which you just got to read in this issue of Project: New Man #3 and he has more coming in #4.

Don’t be surprised if these turn up inked and dialogued as part of a New Man story soon! Maybe we’ll be fortunate enough to have some more work from him in the months ahead.

Legacy Comics Thursday, Man Ark & New Man # 4 Preview

Humants 3 Page 7 Panel 2Welcome to Thursday’s dose of the Daily Mega Comics Updates!

Humants #3:

Ah, some more nice training scenes  from our ace penciler Freazie White, Jr. Take a bow, my friend. Great job!

As we did a page or so ago with Sojourner we get a little clue to why Man Ark was give his title by Omnispawn, as well as what exactly his power is.

Whew! Looks like Sojourner might be paying a bit more than we have to glean those bits of information! Here we sit in our comfy office chairs, behind a nice safe computer monitor, while he sweats out the details! Well, knowing the lad’s character I’m sure he’s glad to do it as a service to all mankind! Yeah…right! 😉

New Man 3 Pg Inside Back Cover

Project New Man # 3:

Here we have the Inside Back Cover to Project: New Man #3 which shows a preview of #4’s cover. I came up with this Next Issue page along with the inside front for Humants # 3 and Freazie loved it so much, he wanted it on every issue thereafter. So I thought, “Well, since the two series will cross over why not use it in New Man’s book as well?” Why not indeed?

The cover for the next issue pretty much outlines what is to come. This is the preliminary rough cover, the finished cover will be…more finished, with color and the whole 10 yards! So stay tuned.

Tomorrow we complete our showcasing of issue # 3 with the Outside Back Cover, we’ll take the weekend off from updating, hopefully to get caught up on some of the web site work, then begin Project: New Man #4! Yes! This is the one we’ve been waiting for! 😀 Hah! I love this job!

New Man & Humants Friday Updates! NO WEEKEND UPDATES!

New Man 3 Pg Back Cover

Welcome to Friday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 3:

Last but not least we have Allan Lewis rendition of Cyber-Tech for the Outside Back Cover. As stated yesterday and earlier in the week, we’ll take the weekend off from updating, to get caught up on some of the web site work.

Monday we begin Project: New Man #4! In that issue we’ll wrap up The Haunted Man story line. We’ll learn the identity of Ebeneezer Baal as New Man has to rescue his friends, face the rage once again of the escaped Cyber-Tech and escape a Death Trap like nothing he has ever faced! Will this be the final Showdown for New Man?

Humants #3:

Sojourner might be martial arts master on a super powered scale but he learned even that has it’s limits against his brother Humant Man Ark!

The Khosmotic Warriors discuss modifying the training facility to better accommodate their exercises. Magistar leaves the two to make financial arrangements for the renovations. But where has The Herald gotten off too? And what about Chaosta? And whatever happened to Scamp? We’ll see all that and more starting Monday. There’s much more character development in this issue especially where Magistar is concerned. Don’t worry we have not forgotten Crystal, or… gulp… Mageddon! They will be showing up in the next few pages as well.

Humants 3 Page 8 Panel 1

Have a great weekend! Hope all goes as well as you planned! Uh, you did make a plan, right? Gotta have a plan, ya know. How else will we know when things don’t go according to plan if we don’t have one to start with, eh? 😉 Yeah, you hadn’t thought of it that way had you? Yes, we have to plan in order to enjoy the frustration of having them all go, not according to plan! Truly it is a paradox! Hah! 😀

Legacy Comics Project: New Man # 4 Begins!

New Man 4 Cover

Welcome to Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Wow! Freazie and I have been waiting for this for 16 years. Finally Project: New Man # 4 is here! This features not only some more never before published art from Christopher Torres, circa 1992, but also some brand new 2008 art from yours truly! Freazie gets to finish the script and we tie up a lot of loose ends in this issue as The Haunted Man concludes. We find out the true identity of Ebeneezer Baal! Have you guessed who he is yet? He is someone who has been in the New Man story line and we have dropped clues here and there. This issue also has more of  Bearcat in action again, we see the abduction of Fawn and Nick, Cyber-Tech escapes and there is a special secret surprise guest-star! HAH! Yeah, this one has it all! 😀

Humants #3:

Remember Scamp from issue # 1? Well, he’s back and he’s helping out the team as they set up headquarters in the old renovated warehouse Magistar rented. We’ll be seeing more of him in the series. Think of him as the teams resident English Butler, only he’s not English and he’s not really a Butler, but he does tend to the ol’ HQ in there absence. Well, actually he sits around watching DVD’s and TV and eats up all there food, but at least some one is there to answer the phone. Hey! Whadda expect? This is alow rent neighborhood! Geeze!

Humants 3 Page 9 Panel 1

Hope you had a great weekend! We got a ton of work done, which you will be seeing the evidence of soon. We’ve got some big things in the works in the weeks to come so stay tuned for the announcements.

Legacy Comics Tuesday Updates & Unsung Features

New Man 4 Inside Front Cover

Welcome back. We missed you!  Time for Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Today we have a look at the inside front cover and “Our Story Thus Far” for Project: New Man # 4. This will catch you up to date or just remind you of what we have already covered.

One of the coolest, unsung features of our web comic site is the Archives. You can access the Archives at the menu on the top of this page OR by clicking the calendar in the right sidebar. The menu link takes you to a list of all the pages we have posted of previous issues which is very handy in locating a page by number. I like to use the calendar feature! It shows you thumbnails of several pages at once so you can scroll down to see what page you might want to go to first. Then all you do is click the thumbnail image to go to the full size page. Pretty neat, eh? Beats the heck out of rummaging through all those boxes and bags for a backissue! 😉

Humants #3:

Scamp and Magistar get to know each other a bit as we learn the back story for both men. Scamp has survived on the streets as an informant until he informed on the wrong crime lord! Magistar, ironically was a cop, now retired, who knew of Scamp and his Information Age business. 😉

Humants 3 Page 10 Panel 1

We will continue to take off weekends for the next few weeks anyway. Most strips run only 5 days a week but we really like the idea of having a daily, 7 day a week strip with only taking off occasionally. After we get better caught up we should be able to get back to that.

What do you think? Had you rather have 5 pages a week and skip weekends or do the 7 day thing. Being a web comics reader myself, I have found I like reading the 5 day a week strips better. One comic I read, Sheldon by Dave Kellett, is posted daily but since I read the comics in between assignments at the office I usually have to catch up on the weekend strips on Monday. That can be fun if I’m having a slow work day but not so when I’m really busy. So maybe going to a 5 day a week strip would be better especially for a full page adventure comic such as we run on MCG. Please give us your feedback. Thanks!

New Man 4 Page 1 Close-up

Welcome to our Web Site!  Come on in, have a seat  and relax we are about to begin Wednesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates.

Project New Man # 4:

Page one of our latest addition to the New Man saga finds our favorite adventurous entrepreneur Emmanual Reyes a.k.a. Bearcat up to his neck in distress! Actually it’s more like up to his ankles since he’s upside down, but that didn’t sound right for the opener! 😉 In an abandoned Power Plant somewhere north of the great metropolitan city of New Harbour, the slight figure of the man known in the crime underworld as Ebeneezer Baal approaches our chained hero. Despite his practiced sincere tone, the cattle prod in his hand would seem to indicate he has anything but Bearcat’s best interests at heart.

Christopher Torres again graces us with his wonderful pencils in these first two chapters, as I, Mark Poe do some dark inking, and Freazie White, Jr. weaves yet another tantalizing tale.

Humants #3:

Magistar starts to put together the pieces of the puzzle which is Johnathan Towers the crime boss known on the streets as The Tower! This sets the stage for the next appearance of our latest villain latter in this very issue.

This is one of my favorite pages from this issue of the Humants. Freazie did some really nice pencils and Ralph Ellis Miley did some slick inking! I even got to help out on the backgounds. Check out that office in Panel 3! I wish my office was that high tech. Not bad for 1992!

Humants 3 Page 11 Panel 4

October is here! Did September fly by or what? Seems the older I get the faster the months and years peel away. Why is it when your a kid it seems like a month is forever. Christmas is less than two months down the road, and the Presidential Election is next month! I guess the old saying is true, “Time flies when you’re having fun!”

Legacy Comics Thursday October 2nd Daily Updates

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Welcome to Thursday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates.

As I mentioned Monday, we’ve got several things in the works! We are looking into printing special editions of Project: New Man and Humants. We’ll be offering these for sale on the web site and at conventions and shop signings. We’ll give you all the details as soon as we have it all finalized.

New Man 4 Page 2 Panel 3

That’s not all! We’re working on more visibility on the web with OnlineComics.net, ComicSpace.com and DrunkDuck.com. These new web locations will not just mirror the MCG sites here, but offer some fresh content as well. Keep your fingers crossed! We need all the help we can get. Whew!

But wait, there’s more! Always wanted to say that. 😉 Seriously, we are working on some other deals as well as what was just mentioned, but it’s too early to say too much of those. 2009 could be a very special year for the Mega Comics Group thanks to you! We don’t say it enough, but we really do appreciate your support.

Project New Man # 4:

Okay, if you don’t have a strong stomach you might want to close your eyes. This page is a little tense and violent, but don’t worry things will get better, we hope. Ebeneezer Baal is really ticked off. He just found out of Cyber-Tech’s little trip to New Harbour and his premature attack on the Thunder Hawks.

This is one of the best pages Christopher Torres turned in. As a matter of fact, even though Chris did a great job on all his pages I think maybe he has a little partiality to Bearcat.

Okay, Chris now you can quit crying. Bearcat will be okay. Just wait and see… really… Sniff! Geeze! now you got me started. Gotta go get some tissue.

Humants 3 Page 12 Panel 1

Humants #3:

Ah, the inevitable scene switch. But this one is pretty smooth, as Freazie leads into Crystal McKliston’s TV show with his script from page 11. This is a good page to re-cap some of the action from the first 2 issues and includes a cameo, by our own Dave Davison, also known as New Man, who is modestly modeling the newest Nike running singlet which of course is custom monogrammed with his personal emblem. I wonder what kind of kickback he got from that endorsement. I wonder if we could get a little something for mentioning Nike here? Nah, probably not. 😉

It was hard for me to spot, and I worked these guys for years, but the inking changed here. Our own legend of lettering logistics, Billy Leavell pulled a double shift on several pages on this issue, not only turning in his usual excellent job of lettering but also inking Mr. White’s pulse pounding pencils! Billy you are a champ! Thanks, pal!

Legacy Comics Friday October 3rd Updates. No Weekend Updates.

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Howdy, par’ners! Ready for Friday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates? Great! Let’s head ’em up and move ’em out!

We’ll not be updating the blogs this weekend again. Instead we’ll be working on the background operations of running 3 comics web sites. We’re still building and as you might have noticed we’ve made a lot of changes in just the past few days. For those who are curious about it here’s a little rundown of what goes on behind the scenes. It takes a 1 -2 hours each day just to get the updates done. That’s just the web production part of it. We also have art, layout, design and editing to do as well. That can take many hours. As we draw to a close on our old Legacy Comics Material we are stepping up new material production. So it’s getting to the point the weekends off from posting are needed more than ever. Even though we are not posting on the weekends the work is still going on. Then there is advertising and promotion and getting set up for new areas such as the printed books we’re about to undertake. We’ve also got some other products we’ll be adding to our store. Oh yeah, and we have to finish the online store set up too! So as I eluded to last week, we’ll probably keep the 5 week daily postings instead of the 7 day week for the time being, maybe through the remaining 3 months of this year. We hope to have all the major construction of our sites done by then as well as a lot of new story and art as well.

New Man 4 Page 3 Panel 2

Of course as I wrote yesterday it’s not just this site, we’re working on more visibility on the web with OnlineComics.net, ComicSpace.com, DrunkDuck.com and Salty ‘Ham Cartooneestas just to mention a few. These are not all either, so keep watching this space for more news on what we are doing in the ways of promotion. Our web stats have shown increases every month and we expect that will continue especially with these new promotion areas.

Again 2009 could be a very special year for the Mega Comics Group thanks to you! We couldn’t do it without ya!

Project New Man # 4:

So who is Ebeneezer Baal? Figured it out yet? There are some clues on this very page just as we’ve dropped here and there throughout The Haunted Man storyline. He is a character which has appeared before in our continuity. I’m sure you have figured it out but for those who may still be piecing it together we’ll wait until page 19 to reveal his name to the world at large.

Now here’s another interesting little continuity tidbit: Baal mentions E.D.G.E. If you have read today’s Humants update already you heard my spiel about how that group plays a major role in the Legacy Universe. Now we find out Baal is tied into to them as well! You may recall E.D.G.E. from New man’s origin in PNM #2. Hah! Now, there’s a major clue for you! 🙂

Humants 3 Page 13 Panel 1

Humants #3:

We meet some new characters today. Actually we saw them in the closing panels of yesterday’s page we just did not know their names. Meet Vic Torrent, Moniel Khonte and Professor Jacob Sanders. We start to learn a little more about a couple of government groups with the titles A.R.A.D and E.D.G.E. The two groups are tied into the background of the whole series and the Legacy Universe figuring into the Project: New Man storyline as well. “How?” you ask. The heck if I know! Freazie wrote this stuff! 😉 But I’m sure he’ll enlighten us on that as we go. We’re only in issue 3, there are 3 more issues of Humants to go! So don’t go away, keep checking back everyday so we can see how his thing turns out! I’m as eager to find out as you are, and I’m the Publisher! Which, as I’ve come to find out, means I’m the head Gopher! 😉

Legacy Comics Monday October 6th Updates

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Hi! Glad you could make it! Ready or not here’s Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

I hope you had nice weekend. Ours was busy but productive. I’ll fill you in later about that, right now let’s find out what’s happening in our daily comics!

New Man 4 Page 4 Panel 2

Project New Man # 4:

Chapter 9 begins today in The Haunted Man saga. Nick and Fawn are in route to her home to see some new scientific gizmo she has acquired.

Nick’s relationship to Fawn is that of a mentor and student or probably more accurately, father and daughter. We never got the chance to delve into the characters past very far so we don’t know Fawn’s real father or perhaps absence thereof as is the case in a lot of kid’s upbringing theses days. It should also be noted, Nick is a father figure to more than just Fawn. His nickname, Saint Nick, is for more than just his appearance. He is a very kindly old gentleman. Perhaps one day we’ll delve into these character’s family background. It’s always interesting to know what shaped the character of the story’s cast.

As for now, the quite drive and joyful camaraderie of two good friends is about to end. Their characters are about to be tested as never before! Stay tuned this week to see what happens!

Humants 3 Page 14 Close-up

Humants #3:

In case you were wondering about the whereabouts of our resident villain, we found him. Not that we really wanted to, mind you! Still it’s good to know just where and what your enemies are up to, is it not? As to where and what, we find him back at Devlin Robotics practicing his favorite pastime, bullying someone less powerful than himself, in this case one Gregory Lawthers, assistant to the missing Devlin Delano. You may recall them from issue # 1. Devlin dissappeared as Mageddon came into our dimension. Now, whether Devlin is really Mageddon transformed into the horrid Dark Lord of the Hecati or actually just switched places with him and is even now imprisoned in some hellish dimension we cannot be sure. I’m sure all that will come to light before this is all said and done.

Legacy Comics Tuesday October 7th Updates

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Welcome back! Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates await you!

We got the week started off right yesterday, so now let me fill you in on what happened over the weekend. We did the usual tweaks and revisions here and there on the site but most of the work for me was finishing up the plot and thumbnails sketches for Project: New Man # 4. That’s right, you see when Legacy Comics shut down due to lack of operating capital back in ’92 we did not get to finish The Haunted Man story line. We had plotted the ending but never got it down on paper. The plotting session was actually a long distance conversation between Freazie and myself. So my job over the past several days has been recalling that plot and getting it down on paper. It was about a week and a little change before I could get it all, but really it would not have taken that long if I could have done it all in one sitting. Laying out the pages went off like clockwork, and I was amazed at how it just seemed to flow! There was only 2 pages I had to go back and adjust because I had left out a scene. The first 2 chapters of issue 4 were complete back in the day, so we only have to finish the issue. Freazie has already handed in the first 3 pages of the script which you will see 2 of  the 3 this week. The pencils for those 3 pages were complete in ’92 as well, and I’m hard at work inking those now. It’s really great to be working on these characters again!

Oops! Time is getting away! More news tomorrow! Now onto our comics for today:

New Man 4 Page 5 Panel 1

Project New Man # 4:

Nick and Fawn are still in route to her home. We get treated to some nice talking head shots by Christopher Torres on this page as Nick and Fawn chat.

Nick chastises Fawn a bit for starving herself in order to pay for the new gizmo she has purchased. he also gets onto her for working too much. She was suppose to be on vacation this week, but she keeps doing research on Project: New Man. The lady definitely seems to be a workaholic doesn’t she. I can relate!

Humants 3 Page 15 Panel 4

Humants #3:

Mageddon after basically getting his butt kicked by the Khosmotic Warriors last issue takes out his frustrations on Lawthers. In typical super villain fare he makes his speeches about how the good guys will pay for having dared even look his way with anything than utmost respect. But as you look at the cool drawings by Freazie White, Jr. it’s easy to see Mageddon is not just your everyday super villain. He’s like a cross between Dracula and Darth Vader, both spooky and imposing at the same time! His costume is not all that fancy, it’s basic black. The Helmet is the most threatening part with that slit of a vior right in the middle. Reference to New Man is also coming up more frequently in the series amongst the different characters so it’s only a matter of time before we see a cross over between the 2 books. Mageddon seems to regard New Man a little differently than the Humants? Perhaps it’s just the mystery of not knowing what New Man is. Is he a Humant or something else? Could there be a forthcoming battle between New Man and Mageddon? Time will tell, web wayfarer! Stay tuned!

Legacy Comics Wednesday October 8 Updates

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Salutations o’ Steadfast Ones! Wednesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are ready for your enjoyment!

Have you noticed? We have been making lot’s of little changes all over the site. We’ve added the Mighty Mega Checklist down the Left Sidebar to keep those back issues handy to refresh your memory, to check on our continuity or if you’re new, to get you up to date on the current story line! There is also an expanded edition of the Checklist on the home pages of Project: New Man and Humants. Also we have been working on the MCG Guidebook which gives you the lowdown on all our characters! Or at least it will once we finish it. You can see it now as a work in progress by clicking the link in the Menu Bar above. And that’s not all ! We’ve got a lot more in store before the year ends, and just wait until 2009! Like the guy sang back in the day, “B-b-b-baby, y-y-you just ain’t seen nothing yet!” 😉

Now without further ado, our comics for today:

New Man 4 Page 6 Panel 3

Project New Man # 4:

A dog barks a couple doors down, a cat hisses at him and runs off.  A lawnmower in the distance shuts off as the evening mowing is concluded. Street lights are coming on as the sun peeks out one last time before passing slowly over the horizon. The sound of stereos and TV’s playing faintly at nearby neighbors can be heard. Kids finish playing in the street nearby as a mom calls them to dinner. Just an average evening in the ‘berbs of Municiple City. Nick and Fawn arrive at her house, in this tranquil little setting. The chitchat of two old friends meanders about.

What could the new discovery in Dave’s DNA which Fawn’s cryptically refers to could be. The guy has been transformed into a near perfect human specimen and obtained the ability harness a Unified Field putting the forces of Gravity, Electricity and Magnetism at his disposal. What more could there be? We’ll soon see, I suppose.

Ah, notice how uncomfortable Fawn is at the mention of Dave and her in the context of a relationship between them. Where could that be going?

Yes, everything is just completely normal, peaceful and quite until Fawn opens the door from her garage to the kitchen to find surprise guests!

Don’t you hate when that happens? I know I do! 😉

And lest you think we have forgotten whose book this really is, New Man makes the scene tomorrow!

Humants 3 Page 16 Panel 4

Humants #3:

Whew! Talk about an economic crisis! Put yourself in poor ol’ Gregory Lawther’s place for a minute. Not only is he having to deal with keeping a huge business empire going while his boss is missing without a trace and no telling when he might return. Not only does he have to make up excuses for the aforementioned boss’s absence so as not to cause corporate panic at Devlin Robotics, Inc. No, that would not be bad enough, but he has to explain all this to the super powered maniac responsible for spiriting away his boss, Devlin Delano. And to top it all off he now learns even Mageddon, the villain himself, is not sure what happened to Devlin Delano! Geeze! And here I thought I was having a difficult week at the office!

Legacy Comics Thursday October 9 Updates

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Greetings! Thursday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are here!

Guess what? Not only are we getting some prices together on printing our comic mags so you not only have a digital copy to drool over but a cool hand held model to boot, we are also making plans for some posters, t-shirts and buttons. Heck, we might even do some mouse pads! Mice need somewhere comfy to sleep too, ya know.  😉 We’ll have all the details soon, so don’t go away.

Okay, let’s see what we have in the ol’ digital comics bag for today:

New Man 4 Page 7 Panel 1

Project New Man # 4:

See? Here he is! We didn’t lose him! Actually he’s been out waiting in a gas line to fill up the Fortress Foundation SUV for the past few hours. Had to pay $3.35 per gallon for gas and the full tank totaled nearly 70 bucks! Now he’s short of cash for his trip to Burger King and, boy, is he ticked! no wait, that was me. Sorry got a little confused. 🙁

This page was originally drawn in 1992 but inked just this week! I did the work, by the way. Freazie gave us a brand spanking new script to boot so the following pages are not only never before published but most of it is new material. So for those of you tired of hearing about the early nineties here’s something from 2008. Hmmm… I wonder how much gas was back in ’92? 😉

Okay, so New Man has found out that Nick and Fawn have been abducted by Ebenezer Baal, who has Bearcat locked up somewhere also and he doesn’t know where they could be. To say the least he’s a bit frustrated! So what do you do when you need to work off some steam and think outloud a bit? Well, Dave Davison goes to…ah but why not just head on over and see for yourself, web wayfarer!

Humants 3 Page 17 Close-Up

Humants #3:

Scene switch! He’s a mystery even to himself. He has no memory of his past life. He doesn’t know if he had a family, a business, or maybe he was a homeless person. All he knows now is that he is The Herald, Adjudicator of the Khosmotic. To him that is enough, he spends very little time thinking about what has gone before. To say he is obsessed with his job would be an understatement! Yet, it is also not exactly accurate. He is what he is, he can be no other way, is his reasoning. He has a job to do and it is not a good idea to come between him and his mission! Right now he’s spotted someone whom he’s not seen before, another Humant! But is the other friend or foe?

Yep! You guessed it the main event of this issue, the smack down between the Herald and Chaosta is about to begin! You don’t want to miss this one, hombre!

Special note to my long time bro! Hey, Freazie! Remember this page? This is one you penciled during the ’91 convention tour and I inked it. Brings back the memories, eh! The best is yet to come, pal! 🙂

Legacy Comics Friday October 10 Updates

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Welcome! Friday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are ready to read!

See that thingamagig above? That’s one of our new features. Okay, we put it up a month or so ago and forgot to say anything about it. 😐 It’s called Featurific and it makes a slide show of the posts on this web site. To can watch it as it does it’s thing or you can click on the controls at the bottom of the Featurific window to pause it so you can read all that’s in the window or just admire the artwork or click the number of the post, form the newests to the oldest, to see your favorite. It’s more than just a cute gadget. Click on the frame with the post you want to see and it takes you to that post. Neat, huh?

Okay, let’s see what we have in the ol’ digital comics bag for today:

New Man 4 Page 8 Panel 4

Project New Man # 4:

Dave, Chief Thunder and Kamikaze are figuring it out. They are very close to realizing just who Ebenezer Baal really is. And if they figure out who he is that might lead them to where he is. Or maybe Tom will locate one of Bearcat’s GPS homing signal devices. It’s one thing if one lacks the power to help, but very frustrating when one has the power to do something but lacks the means to accomplish it.

I had a great time when I originally drew these pages and I’ve been having fun inking them. I was trying to mimic Jim Lee, who was mimicking Art Adams, two of my favorite artists. I hope to be able to keep it up to finish this final chapter of The Haunted Man. Relax, we still have 24 more pages in this issue.

So what’s in store for Project: New Man after that? Well, what do you think? Should we continue the series? Right now the plan is to shelve the title for now, and maybe pick it up later. We will still have it online in the archives so anyone will still be able to read it even after the new material stops. Freazie and I still have some stories to tell of New Man, the Thunder Hawks, Fawn, Nick, Bearcat and the rest. We want to do a couple other books we have in mind first then, who knows? If Mega Maniacs are all in favor of it we’ll start Project: New Man #5. But we’ll wait and see, and like I said we still got time to think about it with 24 more pages in this issue.

Humants 3 Page 18 Panel 1

Humants #3:

The Herald is not sure who or what this is he has discovered flying over the city. Could she be one of the Renegade Humants which Omnispawn spoke of after their first encounter with Mageddon? This one requires some watching. She had earlier detected him, but he has the ninja like ability to mask his whereabouts. She will only know of him again when he so chooses. Perhaps a confrontation will reveal who’s side she is on…

Sorry to leave you on that note, but that’s it for today. Don’t fret! We’ll be right back here Monday morning to see what ol’ grim face does and just how Chaosta reacts! ‘Til then…Have a nice weekend! Aloha!

Legacy Comics Monday October 13 Updates

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Welcome to Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates! Ready? Let’s do it!

Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was enjoyable even though it was mostly work. In addition to working on comics, web sites and art assignments I’ve been working on my 9 year old son’s club house. I’ve been promising him we would finish it up before winter. We’re almost done now. Also I’ve been going through my old comics collection. I’m about to sell a about half of it on consignment at a friend’s comic shop in the next town. It’s a job cataloging all those books! Whew!

Anyhoo, enough of this frivolity! Now on to serious business: Today’s comics updates! 😉

New Man 4 Page 9 Panel 2

Project New Man # 4:

Nothing like demolishing a piece of exercise equipment to ease tensions, I always say. 😉 But during all this exercise Dave, Chief Thunder and Kamikaze worked out some things regarding the mystery of Ebenezer Baal. Dave, still haunted by his own dark past, especially at times of stress, has doubts if he really is a New Man or if he’s just a more powerful version of the old Killer Kane. Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Tom brings news of latching onto one of Bearcat’s GPS Signals so now it’s time for some action!

Humants 3 Page 19 Panel 2

Humants #3:

Ya know, I just noticed these are some of the pages of this issue I inked. I had to retouch a few before I could scan these. A few of our original pages had suffered some water damage while in storage. It’s amazing what you can do with PhotoShop these days. Yeah, they’re digitized now!

The Herald may have a tiger by the tail! He has tracked Chaosta and caught her by surprise. I love the reaction Freazie gave her in panel 5, she screams! Some super heroine, eh? 😀 I think Chaosta could be one of our most popular characters. She’s certainly one of my favorites regardless, but I digress. Anyway ol’ grim jaws, has bitten off more than he can..uh.. chew, it seems. Wonder if he can survive a fall from that high up? Gulp! 😮

Legacy Comics Tuesday, October 14 Updates

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Welcome Back! Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are ready for you!

Whew! We survived another Monday! Mondays get a bad rep but in most cases it’s true. For me they are usually not so bad unless I have deadlines for Monday, which is often the case, and if I’m running behind. I have been behind where I would like to be for about 2 months, but somehow I’ve managed to make the deadlines. I knew this week was really going to be tight but I still thought I could pull it off. I hate being late! But I just have promised too much and it finally caught up with me. Even sleeping 3-4 hours so I can work more has not helped much. It’s just a case of too much work and not enough days in the week nor hours in the day to get it all done! Anyway all that was to say the Project: New Man update is running late today and it may even be tomorrow before I get it posted. I’ll try to get everything back on track this week. I apologize and just ask for your patience. Meanwhile our Humants updates continue as scheduled!

We are still a few days away from having some of the merchandise we have been teasing you with. It’s looking like we’ll have the buttons up first. After that it will possibly be the books or posters.

We’ve added a Pay Pal Donation Box in the sidebar for those who want to show your appreciation of the site.  Web Comics sites offering free comics are dependent on advertising proceeds and sales from merchandise to stay online and giving away the content for free. Some also take donations, but we’re not asking anyone for a donation, just making it available to those who wish to. You can think of it as a Tip Box if you prefer.

Okay, now you are up to date on the news so let’s dive into the ol’ digital comics bag!

Humants 3 Page 20 Panel 6

Humants #3:

Yep! That’s what I figured. The Herald has stepped in it this time! Looks like he realized it right before he attacked her but for some reason his power could not detect it before hand. Maybe he sensed the kindred between them, and that she was not one of the predicted Renegades to come. Chaosta has similar powers to the Herald in some regards and her ferocity is on a level similar to his as well. So neither has a clear cut advantage over the other. Neither has it in them to back down in the least either so this could get very interesting!

Legacy Comics Wednesday, October 15 Updates

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Here we are already to Wednesday! The Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are already warmed up and waiting for you!

Wednesday, can you believe it! The week is slipping away fast.

The news for today is there won’t be Project: New Man #4 updates tomorrow or Friday, BUT Humants # 3 will update as planned both days. We’ll get back to the 5 day a week for Project: New Man #4 Monday and of course Humants # 3 as well. The reason is simple. We’ve gotten a little behind in several areas and since we are doing new pages now in Project: New Man #4 it has altered the amount of work we have to do daily considerably! So something had to give! MCG started in June, and really went off in a different direction than planned. We have posted 218 pages of comics plus 91 informational posts with graphics since then! That’s almost a years worth of posts for most web comics sites! 1 site has turned into 3 with plans for 2 more and we are still expanding! So hopefully if we take a little break on one strip right now we can avoid any interruptions in the future.  This is a good place to take a break oln New Man’s atory since this is the last poage of Chapter 10.I had hoped we could slow it all down just enough with taking weekends off to compensate but I really would have needed to have started that about a month earlier than I did for it to have had the desired success. So please bear with us a little longer.

In related news, Freazie and I have seriously been talking about continuing Project: New Man past issue 4, after a little hiatus. And if PNM goes on, could Humants be far behind. But it’s not final yet and there are some technical aspects that have to fall in place for us to do it, so stay tuned for updates.

Enough of that for now! Let’s crack open a couple hot off the virtual press digital comics! Ahhh…  I love that new comic smell! 😉

Humants 3 Page 21 Panel 3

Humants #3:

Ouch! Oooh! Yeow! Look out! I bet that will leave a mark! It’s clear to see The Herald has no reservations about hitting a female. 😉 Of course Chaosta doesn’t seem to have any qualms about giving it right back at him either! WOW! That’s some right cross Chaosta laid on The Herald in panel 3! Ol’ Grim Face seems to be holding back. Could it be he’s using his Khosmotic Powers to probe Chaosta’s mind in an attempt to determine if she really is one of the Renegade Humants which Ominspawn spoke of in issue 2?

Uh Oh, Chaosta! Watch out,  it looks like the Herald has an idea of how to prove once and for all if you are on his side or not. You don’t want to let The Herald use The Experience on you! Just ask Mageddon. We are talking major headaches!

New Man 4 Page 10 Small

Project New Man # 4:

Delayed from yesterday. Sorry again.

Dave, Chief Thunder and Kamikaze board one of the Fortress Foundation’s VTOL* Air Cars and head out for the abandoned Nuclear Facility where Tom has pinpointed Bearcat’s presence. At this point they can only assume that Fawn and Nick will be held in the same location as Emanuel.

The Fortress Foundation, a private sector, non-profit, philanthropic organization dedicated to public defense and scientific research is headquartered in the Moriah Building in New Harbour, a part of the Five Lakes Megalopolis. The Moriah Building consists of one large tower and 2 smaller towers to either side. The smaller towers each have helipads located on the roofs of the structures. Hangars for the Air Cars are located beneath the helipads accessible by sliding roof panels.

Legacy Comics Thursday, October 16 Updates & SURPRISE Jay Piscopo New Man Art!

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

It’s Thursday! The Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are up!

New Man Jay Piscopo Pin-Up

Yeah, I know I said we would not have a Project: New Man update today but something unexpected occurred! WOW! Did it ever! Jay Piscopo of Capt’n Eli fame did us the honor of drawing an awesome piece of art just for the heck of it! As it turns out he’s a bit of a fan of Project: New Man. Jay shares a lot of my own interests in comics and classic hero characters like Doc Savage, the Fawcett Comics heroes like the original Captain Marvel, Hanna-Barbera’s Jonny Quest and lots of others. You can see the influences of those I just mentioned in this pin-up of Dave Davison A.K.A. New Man.

Jay Piscopo is the creator, writer and artist of Capt’n Eli’s adventures. Jay uses his computer to develop a unique style of combining 2D characters with 3D backgrounds much the way animation is done. Check out his web comic archives of some of the early adventures of Capt’n Eli at www.captneli.com.

These days, Jay oversees the promotion of a limited edition Graphic Novels featuring The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli and his friends taken from the daily Web Comic which ran from 2006-early 2008. He still has the early adventures of Capt’n Eli on the web site and tons of great art! He also has a new Web Comic featuring Commander X in the works right now.

eoct2Jay seems to have an unlimited imagination as he draws on old legends and embellished them in a technique reminiscent of the daily adventure comic strip for a new audience. To those of us who remember the day, these neo-classic stories bring back the feeling of childhood adventure when your imagination could propel you anywhere and comics were less than a dollar.

But there is also the added experience of Capt’n Eli’s Soda! That’s right you can read a comic while sipping on any of 7 different flavors of Soda Pop. How’s that for remembering the good ol’ days!  The Mystery of the Sargasso Sea Graphic Novels #1 and 2 are available now! You can get  copies easily by clicking on our Amazon Shop in the Right Sidebar or go to Jay’s Capt’n Eli site, www.captneli.com where you can also order the bottles of pop!  So order the book and the soda and enjoy!

Humants 3 Page 22 Panel 5

Humants #3:

Scene Switch! Again! Seems like I’ve seen these two in a movie. 😉 Anyway, it seems not everyone has forgotten our ol’ pal Scamp. The crime boss known as The Tower schemes along with his sycophant side kick, of whom we will learn more soon, on just how to capture Scamp and at the same time deal with the threat of the Humants. In the last panel on this page he get’s more than he bargained for! No, that ain’t Mary Poppins dropping by for tea!

Legacy Comics Friday, October 17 Updates

Friday, October 17th, 2008

It’s Friday! The Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are up!

Did you notice? We’ve added some poll questions at the bottom of the Left Side Bar. If you like take the short surveys and help us determine just who our wonderful group of web wayfarers are. It might not change what we are doing or how we are doing it but it would be nice to know and helpful mainly in knowing where to advertise. After all it’s not easy finding Mega Maniacs, they are an elite group who don’t just hang around low quality web sites! 😉

Did you know? While you are cruising down the Side Bars take note of all the extra features we have available as well as ads from sponsors and our affiliates. If you see something of interest… Hey! Go for it! Sponsors and affiliates is one way we are able to keep publishing, so if you are looking for  a way to support our work, that’s a great place to start. Check those Side Bars often. We add new stuff all the time just for you. 🙂

Now with all that said let’s call this meeting to order. First item on the agenda please:

Humants #3:

Humants 3 Page 23 Panel 1

Ya gotta admire the guy’s guts. Johnathan Towers may be a ruthless crime lord but he’s no coward. The sight of the ebony clad, helmeted Mageddon, Dark Lord of The Hecati materializing in his office with a billowing cloud of smoke doesn’t shake him. He sees the threat and attacks! No doubt the same instincts honed on the streets of the Border Line District which gained him his lofty position as a crime boss came into play in this encounter. But natural courage against a super natural foe is like spitting in the wind as The Tower immediately realizes.

So what is Mageddon up to? What could he possibly want with a guy like the Tower? Ah, now that is the subject we’ll probe starting Monday! Rest assured it’s not good, but it will lead up to all out action!

Project: New Man:

Still no new story pages today but we’ll have some brand, spanking, new ones up next week for sure. Here’s a little preview of what’s coming up.

Marcus Lusk, recently gave me an idea. Marcus is the creator of the highly acclaimed Tales from the Bog series and my ol’ pal and creator of the the Elf Trek mini-series we did together with Greg Legat several years ago and plan on posting soon. We also have some new work from Greg coming soon as well. Marcus suggested folks would like to see how we go about creating these little sequential tales we love to publish. So I thought I would let you take a peek at my thumbnails sketches for the next chapter of Project: New Man #4 in the concluding Haunted Man saga, plus the last page of the last chapter as a bonus. Just click this image:New Man 4 Thumbs Preview

Here’s the lowdown: I start out with just some ordinary letter size copy paper, count out how many sheets I need for an issue, then fold it and number my pages back and front. Then I rough sketch on each page the layout of panels and rough drawings of the characters. These are drawings I do in about 15 minutes or less per page, so sometimes the character may not be recognizable to anyone other than myself. I also fill in my ideas for captions and dialog and jot some notes in the margins when needed. Once it’s all done I scan it in and convert it all to a pdf file to email to Freazie. Freazie uses my thumbnails and notes to come up with the actual script. While he’s doing that I can be working on the full size pencils on 11″ x 17″ tabloid sheets within a 10″x 15″ margin. Once the pencils are done I overlay it with some tracing vellum and ink over a light box. I don’t like to ink the actual pencils, but that’s just me. I have done it plenty of times but it’s just easier for me now to ink on vellum and not have to erase graphite after the inking is done. With the inks complete I scan the art into my computer and clean it up in PhotoShop. By this time Freazie has long since done the script and emailed it to me. I bring my image into Adobe Illustrator and make a second layer to put word balloons and lettering on. I use some comic book fonts from Blam Bot and set it up. Once that is done I bring just the balloons with the words back over to PhotoShop and super-impose it over the art where I make any final adjustments for balloon placement. And that’s it. Now I’m ready to export it as a jpeg and use Comic Press to add it to the blog.

See? It’s easy! Yeah. Right. 😉 Well, it is a lot of work with a lot of steps but it’s also fun and the most fun is when I’m finished and it’s posted!

Thanks for the idea, Marcus!

New Man Jay Piscopo Pin-Up

From Yesterday:

We still have the awesome pin-up art by Jay Piscopo of Capt’n Eli fame showcased over on the Project: New Man site. I wanted to leave it up until Monday on the main page. Of course it will remain in the archives too. When you get a chance check out Jay’s web comic archives of some of the early adventures of Capt’n Eli on www.captneli.com.

While you’re at it go to his online store and order copies of The Mystery of the Sargasso Sea Graphic Novels #1 and 2! And don’t forget Capt’n Eli’s Soda! Plus Jay has some other cool items you will probably want to snatch up as well.

Thanks, Jay, for doing such an awesome drawing for us. It was right on time!

Legacy Comics Monday, October 20 Updates

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Welcome back! The Monday Daily Mega Comics Group Updates are about to begin!

No New Man Update yet. I am sorry to say the Project: New Man update is not ready yet. This is no one’s fault but my own, so please don’t think I’m laying this off on someone else. However, I want to explain why it’s late. I was detained on two promised projects the later part of last week and this weekend which I’ve actually had going for weeks but had reached critical junctures in completion, unfortunately the projects drained more of my time than I had estimated.

What projects? Glad you asked. 😉 I’ve been trying to finish up my 9 year old’s Club House. This is something I promised Alex, my son, we would get finished this year which is running out! I actually don’t even have the rest of the year because the first of the cold weather is starting to show up. We should complete it this next Saturday. He’s helping out and we are very close to having it complete. He is very excited about it.

Humants 3 Page 24 Panel 1

The other project is helping our an old friend get ready to open his Comics Shop this weekend. More on that later. We have a little more to go on this but he should be able to open Saturday as planned. I had to go through several boxes of books, get bags on some and labels on all. I still have to catalog some of them too. It’s not hard work, and I’ve done it before, but it’s been a long time and I had forgotten just how time consuming it can be.

Please bear with me just a little longer. I should have planned this out better, so it’s all my fault, and I will do better as we grow this site. We’ll get back on track this week. Thank you for your patience.

Okay, lets see what the Humants are up too.

Humants #3:

Ah, now we see what Mageddon has in mind! When you think about it, what better way to recruit an army of super powered bad guys than to go to the one’s who already show a penchant for bad behavior? So using the opposite of Khosmenergy, he draws on what he calls Negamenergy to get the job done! First up is Perimeter, Master Of Firearms! Then there’s… oops We’ll have to see who else tomorrow.

Pages 24 and 25 we’re meant to be double page spreads, but with WordPress/ComicPress I have yet to learn how to set up a double page spread. Maybe someone out there can help me on that. For now we have half the scene, but the way Freazie did it, it works pretty well for this update. Maybe I can put the 2 pages together as a special link on tomorrow’s post which will show you the whole double spread as will as the single page 25.

Project: New Man From Last Week:
