Legacy Comics Project: New Man # 4 Begins!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

New Man 4 Cover

Welcome to Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Wow! Freazie and I have been waiting for this for 16 years. Finally Project: New Man # 4 is here! This features not only some more never before published art from Christopher Torres, circa 1992, but also some brand new 2008 art from yours truly! Freazie gets to finish the script and we tie up a lot of loose ends in this issue as The Haunted Man concludes. We find out the true identity of Ebeneezer Baal! Have you guessed who he is yet? He is someone who has been in the New Man story line and we have dropped clues here and there. This issue also has more of  Bearcat in action again, we see the abduction of Fawn and Nick, Cyber-Tech escapes and there is a special secret surprise guest-star! HAH! Yeah, this one has it all! :-D

Humants #3:

Remember Scamp from issue # 1? Well, he’s back and he’s helping out the team as they set up headquarters in the old renovated warehouse Magistar rented. We’ll be seeing more of him in the series. Think of him as the teams resident English Butler, only he’s not English and he’s not really a Butler, but he does tend to the ol’ HQ in there absence. Well, actually he sits around watching DVD’s and TV and eats up all there food, but at least some one is there to answer the phone. Hey! Whadda expect? This is alow rent neighborhood! Geeze!

Humants 3 Page 9 Panel 1

Hope you had a great weekend! We got a ton of work done, which you will be seeing the evidence of soon. We’ve got some big things in the works in the weeks to come so stay tuned for the announcements.

Legacy Comics Tuesday Updates & Unsung Features

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

New Man 4 Inside Front Cover

Welcome back. We missed you!  Time for Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

Project New Man # 4:

Today we have a look at the inside front cover and “Our Story Thus Far” for Project: New Man # 4. This will catch you up to date or just remind you of what we have already covered.

One of the coolest, unsung features of our web comic site is the Archives. You can access the Archives at the menu on the top of this page OR by clicking the calendar in the right sidebar. The menu link takes you to a list of all the pages we have posted of previous issues which is very handy in locating a page by number. I like to use the calendar feature! It shows you thumbnails of several pages at once so you can scroll down to see what page you might want to go to first. Then all you do is click the thumbnail image to go to the full size page. Pretty neat, eh? Beats the heck out of rummaging through all those boxes and bags for a backissue! ;-)

Humants #3:

Scamp and Magistar get to know each other a bit as we learn the back story for both men. Scamp has survived on the streets as an informant until he informed on the wrong crime lord! Magistar, ironically was a cop, now retired, who knew of Scamp and his Information Age business. ;-)

Humants 3 Page 10 Panel 1

We will continue to take off weekends for the next few weeks anyway. Most strips run only 5 days a week but we really like the idea of having a daily, 7 day a week strip with only taking off occasionally. After we get better caught up we should be able to get back to that.

What do you think? Had you rather have 5 pages a week and skip weekends or do the 7 day thing. Being a web comics reader myself, I have found I like reading the 5 day a week strips better. One comic I read, Sheldon by Dave Kellett, is posted daily but since I read the comics in between assignments at the office I usually have to catch up on the weekend strips on Monday. That can be fun if I’m having a slow work day but not so when I’m really busy. So maybe going to a 5 day a week strip would be better especially for a full page adventure comic such as we run on MCG. Please give us your feedback. Thanks!

Legacy Comics Wednesday October 1st Daily Updates

New Man 4 Page 1 Close-up

Welcome to our Web Site!  Come on in, have a seat  and relax we are about to begin Wednesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates.

Project New Man # 4:

Page one of our latest addition to the New Man saga finds our favorite adventurous entrepreneur Emmanual Reyes a.k.a. Bearcat up to his neck in distress! Actually it’s more like up to his ankles since he’s upside down, but that didn’t sound right for the opener! ;-) In an abandoned Power Plant somewhere north of the great metropolitan city of New Harbour, the slight figure of the man known in the crime underworld as Ebeneezer Baal approaches our chained hero. Despite his practiced sincere tone, the cattle prod in his hand would seem to indicate he has anything but Bearcat’s best interests at heart.

Christopher Torres again graces us with his wonderful pencils in these first two chapters, as I, Mark Poe do some dark inking, and Freazie White, Jr. weaves yet another tantalizing tale.

Humants #3:

Magistar starts to put together the pieces of the puzzle which is Johnathan Towers the crime boss known on the streets as The Tower! This sets the stage for the next appearance of our latest villain latter in this very issue.

This is one of my favorite pages from this issue of the Humants. Freazie did some really nice pencils and Ralph Ellis Miley did some slick inking! I even got to help out on the backgounds. Check out that office in Panel 3! I wish my office was that high tech. Not bad for 1992!

Humants 3 Page 11 Panel 4

October is here! Did September fly by or what? Seems the older I get the faster the months and years peel away. Why is it when your a kid it seems like a month is forever. Christmas is less than two months down the road, and the Presidential Election is next month! I guess the old saying is true, “Time flies when you’re having fun!”

Legacy Comics Thursday October 2nd Daily Updates

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Welcome to Thursday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates.

As I mentioned Monday, we’ve got several things in the works! We are looking into printing special editions of Project: New Man and Humants. We’ll be offering these for sale on the web site and at conventions and shop signings. We’ll give you all the details as soon as we have it all finalized.

New Man 4 Page 2 Panel 3

That’s not all! We’re working on more visibility on the web with OnlineComics.net, ComicSpace.com and DrunkDuck.com. These new web locations will not just mirror the MCG sites here, but offer some fresh content as well. Keep your fingers crossed! We need all the help we can get. Whew!

But wait, there’s more! Always wanted to say that. ;-) Seriously, we are working on some other deals as well as what was just mentioned, but it’s too early to say too much of those. 2009 could be a very special year for the Mega Comics Group thanks to you! We don’t say it enough, but we really do appreciate your support.

Project New Man # 4:

Okay, if you don’t have a strong stomach you might want to close your eyes. This page is a little tense and violent, but don’t worry things will get better, we hope. Ebeneezer Baal is really ticked off. He just found out of Cyber-Tech’s little trip to New Harbour and his premature attack on the Thunder Hawks.

This is one of the best pages Christopher Torres turned in. As a matter of fact, even though Chris did a great job on all his pages I think maybe he has a little partiality to Bearcat.

Okay, Chris now you can quit crying. Bearcat will be okay. Just wait and see… really… Sniff! Geeze! now you got me started. Gotta go get some tissue.

Humants 3 Page 12 Panel 1

Humants #3:

Ah, the inevitable scene switch. But this one is pretty smooth, as Freazie leads into Crystal McKliston’s TV show with his script from page 11. This is a good page to re-cap some of the action from the first 2 issues and includes a cameo, by our own Dave Davison, also known as New Man, who is modestly modeling the newest Nike running singlet which of course is custom monogrammed with his personal emblem. I wonder what kind of kickback he got from that endorsement. I wonder if we could get a little something for mentioning Nike here? Nah, probably not. ;-)

It was hard for me to spot, and I worked these guys for years, but the inking changed here. Our own legend of lettering logistics, Billy Leavell pulled a double shift on several pages on this issue, not only turning in his usual excellent job of lettering but also inking Mr. White’s pulse pounding pencils! Billy you are a champ! Thanks, pal!

Legacy Comics Friday October 3rd Updates. No Weekend Updates.

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Howdy, par’ners! Ready for Friday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates? Great! Let’s head ‘em up and move ‘em out!

We’ll not be updating the blogs this weekend again. Instead we’ll be working on the background operations of running 3 comics web sites. We’re still building and as you might have noticed we’ve made a lot of changes in just the past few days. For those who are curious about it here’s a little rundown of what goes on behind the scenes. It takes a 1 -2 hours each day just to get the updates done. That’s just the web production part of it. We also have art, layout, design and editing to do as well. That can take many hours. As we draw to a close on our old Legacy Comics Material we are stepping up new material production. So it’s getting to the point the weekends off from posting are needed more than ever. Even though we are not posting on the weekends the work is still going on. Then there is advertising and promotion and getting set up for new areas such as the printed books we’re about to undertake. We’ve also got some other products we’ll be adding to our store. Oh yeah, and we have to finish the online store set up too! So as I eluded to last week, we’ll probably keep the 5 week daily postings instead of the 7 day week for the time being, maybe through the remaining 3 months of this year. We hope to have all the major construction of our sites done by then as well as a lot of new story and art as well.

New Man 4 Page 3 Panel 2

Of course as I wrote yesterday it’s not just this site, we’re working on more visibility on the web with OnlineComics.net, ComicSpace.com, DrunkDuck.com and Salty ‘Ham Cartooneestas just to mention a few. These are not all either, so keep watching this space for more news on what we are doing in the ways of promotion. Our web stats have shown increases every month and we expect that will continue especially with these new promotion areas.

Again 2009 could be a very special year for the Mega Comics Group thanks to you! We couldn’t do it without ya!

Project New Man # 4:

So who is Ebeneezer Baal? Figured it out yet? There are some clues on this very page just as we’ve dropped here and there throughout The Haunted Man storyline. He is a character which has appeared before in our continuity. I’m sure you have figured it out but for those who may still be piecing it together we’ll wait until page 19 to reveal his name to the world at large.

Now here’s another interesting little continuity tidbit: Baal mentions E.D.G.E. If you have read today’s Humants update already you heard my spiel about how that group plays a major role in the Legacy Universe. Now we find out Baal is tied into to them as well! You may recall E.D.G.E. from New man’s origin in PNM #2. Hah! Now, there’s a major clue for you! :-)

Humants 3 Page 13 Panel 1

Humants #3:

We meet some new characters today. Actually we saw them in the closing panels of yesterday’s page we just did not know their names. Meet Vic Torrent, Moniel Khonte and Professor Jacob Sanders. We start to learn a little more about a couple of government groups with the titles A.R.A.D and E.D.G.E. The two groups are tied into the background of the whole series and the Legacy Universe figuring into the Project: New Man storyline as well. “How?” you ask. The heck if I know! Freazie wrote this stuff! ;-) But I’m sure he’ll enlighten us on that as we go. We’re only in issue 3, there are 3 more issues of Humants to go! So don’t go away, keep checking back everyday so we can see how his thing turns out! I’m as eager to find out as you are, and I’m the Publisher! Which, as I’ve come to find out, means I’m the head Gopher! ;-)

Legacy Comics Monday October 6th Updates

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Hi! Glad you could make it! Ready or not here’s Monday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates!

I hope you had nice weekend. Ours was busy but productive. I’ll fill you in later about that, right now let’s find out what’s happening in our daily comics!

New Man 4 Page 4 Panel 2

Project New Man # 4:

Chapter 9 begins today in The Haunted Man saga. Nick and Fawn are in route to her home to see some new scientific gizmo she has acquired.

Nick’s relationship to Fawn is that of a mentor and student or probably more accurately, father and daughter. We never got the chance to delve into the characters past very far so we don’t know Fawn’s real father or perhaps absence thereof as is the case in a lot of kid’s upbringing theses days. It should also be noted, Nick is a father figure to more than just Fawn. His nickname, Saint Nick, is for more than just his appearance. He is a very kindly old gentleman. Perhaps one day we’ll delve into these character’s family background. It’s always interesting to know what shaped the character of the story’s cast.

As for now, the quite drive and joyful camaraderie of two good friends is about to end. Their characters are about to be tested as never before! Stay tuned this week to see what happens!

Humants 3 Page 14 Close-up

Humants #3:

In case you were wondering about the whereabouts of our resident villain, we found him. Not that we really wanted to, mind you! Still it’s good to know just where and what your enemies are up to, is it not? As to where and what, we find him back at Devlin Robotics practicing his favorite pastime, bullying someone less powerful than himself, in this case one Gregory Lawthers, assistant to the missing Devlin Delano. You may recall them from issue # 1. Devlin dissappeared as Mageddon came into our dimension. Now, whether Devlin is really Mageddon transformed into the horrid Dark Lord of the Hecati or actually just switched places with him and is even now imprisoned in some hellish dimension we cannot be sure. I’m sure all that will come to light before this is all said and done.

Legacy Comics Tuesday October 7th Updates

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Welcome back! Tuesday’s Daily Mega Comics Group Updates await you!

We got the week started off right yesterday, so now let me fill you in on what happened over the weekend. We did the usual tweaks and revisions here and there on the site but most of the work for me was finishing up the plot and thumbnails sketches for Project: New Man # 4. That’s right, you see when Legacy Comics shut down due to lack of operating capital back in ‘92 we did not get to finish The Haunted Man story line. We had plotted the ending but never got it down on paper. The plotting session was actually a long distance conversation between Freazie and myself. So my job over the past several days has been recalling that plot and getting it down on paper. It was about a week and a little change before I could get it all, but really it would not have taken that long if I could have done it all in one sitting. Laying out the pages went off like clockwork, and I was amazed at how it just seemed to flow! There was only 2 pages I had to go back and adjust because I had left out a scene. The first 2 chapters of issue 4 were complete back in the day, so we only have to finish the issue. Freazie has already handed in the first 3 pages of the script which you will see 2 of  the 3 this week. The pencils for those 3 pages were complete in ‘92 as well, and I’m hard at work inking those now. It’s really great to be working on these characters again!

Oops! Time is getting away! More news tomorrow! Now onto our comics for today:

New Man 4 Page 5 Panel 1

Project New Man # 4:

Nick and Fawn are still in route to her home. We get treated to some nice talking head shots by Christopher Torres on this page as Nick and Fawn chat.

Nick chastises Fawn a bit for starving herself in order to pay for the new gizmo she has purchased. he also gets onto her for working too much. She was suppose to be on vacation this week, but she keeps doing research on Project: New Man. The lady definitely seems to be a workaholic doesn’t she. I can relate!

Humants 3 Page 15 Panel 4

Humants #3:

Mageddon after basically getting his butt kicked by the Khosmotic Warriors last issue takes out his frustrations on Lawthers. In typical super villain fare he makes his speeches about how the good guys will pay for having dared even look his way with anything than utmost respect. But as you look at the cool drawings by Freazie White, Jr. it’s easy to see Mageddon is not just your everyday super villain. He’s like a cross between Dracula and Darth Vader, both spooky and imposing at the same time! His costume is not all that fancy, it’s basic black. The Helmet is the most threatening part with that slit of a vior right in the middle. Reference to New Man is also coming up more frequently in the series amongst the different characters so it’s only a matter of time before we see a cross over between the 2 books. Mageddon seems to regard New Man a little differently than the Humants? Perhaps it’s just the mystery of not knowing what New Man is. Is he a Humant or something else? Could there be a forthcoming battle between New Man and Mageddon? Time will tell, web wayfarer! Stay tuned!
