Here we have a life and death standoff. New Man has no options here and there is no way he can reach the woman before the killer pulls the trigger. So, the super hero, with all the powers, is essentially powerless and has to rely on reasoning with a person who is on the verge of total mental meltdown. There’s no way to predict what such a person will do. What would you do?
Mark’s Remarks:
There is not much action in this chapter but the dramatic tension is high. I like the idea that in this instance, after having been trained to use his power over the Unified Field, New Man has to rely on his wits to over come this situation. He probably did not get much training in that area from the Fortress Foundation or in his previous line of work. And what of that previous line of work? We’re about learn more on that! Stay tuned.
