Project: New Man 2 Page 3
Okay, we start out with the hero surrounded, the mystery villain, then the attack of the henchmen! But then, who is attacking who here? Action, action, action!
WHOA! What’s New Man doing with his club?! WOW! Almost forgot he could use that thing like a Light Sabre to focus the Unified Field into laser beam intensity! Cool!
Mark’s Remarks: In some ways it doesn’t seem like 19 years since I did the rough breakdowns on this and sent it to Freazie. I can remember the rush of excitement sitting down to my drawing board and whipping these out. I can do breakdowns fairly fast. Speed was the reason we we’re trying to do it this way but Freazie was never comfortable penciling over my breakdowns even though I always thought he did a great job. I had the same rush of excitement when I saw his finished pencils with Billy‘s lettering and sent those off to the inker. That’s when the nightmare began! Inking of course is the hub of the production or at least it was in those days. Now some books don’t even have an inker. Often these days the inker has been replaced by the colororist who is now a digital painter. But back in the day, if the inker got sick, as our original inker did, and can’t finish the work, better find the nearest drugstore and stock up on Tylenol!
