Project: New Man 2 Page 9
Meet the rest of the Thunder Hawks. There were 9 of them originally, a special covert team in Vietnam, but only three survived the conflict. More on this later too.
Mark’s Remarks: The Thunder Hawks was a concept I had come up with several years earlier prior to the publication of this story. They were a different group in the beginning with a few more members. I trimmed the number down a bit to be a little more manageable. This group was inspired by Doc Savage and his Amazing Five. The reference is more meaningful as the story progresses and you get to know the group, especially Chief Thunder, and of course if you happen to be a Doc Savage fan it helps greatly.
I hope to get back to telling their tale in full one of these days when I get back around to reviving the Project: New Man and Humants storyline. I always thought these characters would have been strong enough, if handled right, to have their own title and we had some tentative plans for just that had Legacy Comics continued.
Ironically Doc Savage has had several comic book titles but none have survived for very long. DC Comics is currently running a new Doc Savage series and it is at issue 10. Who knows maybe they can keep this one going! It’s pretty good! Check it out.
