Project: NewMan 3 Page 1

I remembered what this page Nathan Massengill did for us was for. I think, in 1992, it may have been planned for a later slot in the storyline in the forthcoming re-launch of Project: New Man under the Legacy Comics banner. But since we  are reformatting the pages for this New Project: New Man web comic anyway I put it here where it should be.

Originally the telling of New Man’s origin in chapters 2 and 3 of The Haunted Man storyline was to be what he was dreaming while asleep in his chair that night after the initial confrontation with Ebenezer Baal. Freazie had a better idea for the dream sequence. So while we told his origin, New Man was dreaming the above. Confused? Me too, but if we keep reading I’m sure we’ll see how the origin as well as the dream all tie into the The Haunted Man storyline. At least that’s what Freazie told me. ;-) Enjoy!

Interesting departure in art style (courtesy of Nathan Massengill?), but fits well as part of a dream sequence. Reminds me somewhat of Dave Sim’s style (which in itself is derivative of other artists).

By the way, loving the storyline, even if this is just “reprints” on the web. Superhero web comics still seem rather limited.

Hi, Mac! Thanks for your comment and for your interest in Project: New Man!

Yes, this page was done many years ago by Nathan right after he graduated Joe Kubert’s School. He did a bang up job! Unfortunately if he did any more pages for this segment they have been lost over the years. We used his art and I added a couple pages. Unfortunately, I had to do these the night before they would be posted, and as much as I wanted to match Nathan’s style I did not have the time. However, I promise to go back and fix that soon. So check back for the update!

We’ll also soon have a bio for Nathan and some links to his art on the web and accomplishments in the comics field.

Yes, we’ve been disappointed too with the lack of Super-Heroes on the web which was one reason we decided to re-activate these stories and characters. Stay tuned for more!

Thanks for the kudos and please keep reading and commenting!
    Mark
