Yeah, I know I said we would not have a Project: New Man update today but something unexpected occurred! WOW! Did it ever! Jay Piscopo of Capt’n Eli fame did us the honor of drawing an awesome piece of art just for the heck of it! As it turns out he’s a bit of a fan of Project: New Man. Jay shares a lot of my own interests in comics and classic hero characters like Doc Savage, the Fawcett Comics heroes like the original Captain Marvel, Hanna-Barbera’s Jonny Quest and lots of others. Jay Piscopo is the creator, writer and artist of Capt’n Eli’s adventures and has been making state-of-the-art children’s entertainment for more than a 12 years. Piscopo uses a computer rather than a canvas to develop a unique style of combining 2D characters with 3D backgrounds much the way animation is done. These days, Jay oversees the promotion of a limited edition Graphic Novels featuring The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli and his friends taken from the daily Web Comic which ran from 2006-early 2008. He still has the early adventures of Capt’n Eli on the web site and tons of great art! He also has a new Web Comic featuring Commander X in the works right now.

Jay seems to have an unlimited imagination as he draws on old legends and embellished them in a technique reminiscent of the daily adventure comic strip for a new audience. To those of us who remember the day, these neo-classic stories bring back the feeling of childhood adventure when your imagination could propel you anywhere and comics were less than a dollar.
