Yes, it’s me again, Mark Poe, your friendly neighborhood Mega Comics Group publisher.
Project: New Man was a concept I came up with back in the late 80’s, early 90’s. Inspired by just about every super hero comic I had ever read, in which I tried to distill elements of several in this concept. There’s inspired parts of early Superman, Fantastic Four, Doc Savage and Captain America origins. I also wanted to inject my other interests in science and spirituality. Freazie helped define the latter greatly. My interest in science is amateur at best, but I have always been fascinated with Einstein’s concepts. So we wove some of that into the tale. I like to have some political intrigue in nearly every story I do so that’s there too. Yes, we got a little of everything mixed in. We gave New Man a pretty large supporting cast as well with some fairly interesting characters. The first story served pretty much as an introduction to all the above.
Project: New Man was meant to be an ongoing series by itself. For reasons I detailed a bit more on the MCG About Page, we had to combine Project: New Man into the Humant’s title. We did 3 issues worth of stories, about 68 pages, I think, for Project: New Man and planned on bringing out a New Man solo title along side of issue 4 of Humants. Alas, the money ran out and we had to go to work for other folks to catch up on the bills.
So here we are 16 years later representing the tales and with the 3rd part you will see the never before published 3rd issue of Humants with both the Humants story and Project New Man. We’ve divided the titles back up into two books for the web as they were originally intended. Hope you enjoy both.
Please post your comments with your likes and dislikes on the web pages. Who knows, maybe we’ll do a fourth installment and finish the story line. It’s up to you readers!
