Final Page!

Today is a little bit of a sad day, even though it is Christmas Eve! Today is the day we post the back cover for Project: New Man #4 and as we wrote yesterday this will be the last page of PNM for a while. We’re taking a hiatus from the series to regroup our efforts more in line with today’s web market and technology. So don’t fret, we’ve not seen the last of Dave, Fawn, Nick, Chief Thunder, Kamikaze, Bearcat and the rest.

We’d like to take this space to thank all of you who have read these posts and comics pages and those who read the first offerings of Legacy Comics when we first got started back in 1990. We have been deeply touched by the encouragement we have received over the years from our readers and fans. We couldn’t do it without you and we wouldn’t want to!

Also a big “THANKS!” to the whole blame Legacy Comics Crew! From Freazie and Mark to Billy Leavell, Harry Miller, Christopher Torres, Ralph Ellis Miley, Allen Lewis, Alan Baker, Nathan Massengill, Thomas O’Conner, John Larter, Mark Alan Lester, Hobert Lyons, Paul Schulze and Anthony Gray! We could not have done it without you guys! You’re the best! So we’ll end this before we start bawling like babies and risk having to replace another keyboard or two. (sniff)

Monday‘s Page! Project: New Man # 4 is ending. Wednesday we will have the color back cover and that will wrap up the original series plus a few new pages of material that was added to fill out page quotas and finish the storyline.

On this inside back cover we usually preview the next issue’s cover, and even though we’ve sported a nice mock up of a cover, that won’t actually be the next issues cover because we don’t know what it will be OR exactly when it will be out. That’s right Project: New Man will be on hiatus for a little while while we gear up for the new stories. What will the new stories be? Well, that’s still up in the air somewhat. We tied up all the major plots for The Haunted Man story line but there are still lots of unresolved sub plots. Like what happens to Dr. Fawn Wilfred as she recovers from the assault she suffered at the hands of Dr. Hubert Rolph a.k.a Ebenezer Baal? And what of the blossoming romance between Dave and Fawn? What exactly is E.D.G.E. and how does it really figure into Project: New Man? Is E.D.G.E. completely corrupt? Now that New Man knows he is actually a Humant and his evolution had little or nothing to do with the Experiment how does that effect the Project research? What about the Thunder Hawks and Bearcat? What has happened to Max? See, there’s plenty of story material yet to be tapped. Since the original series began back in the early 1990′s will we stay in that time line or will we pick up nearly 20 years later? Hmmmm….Interesting?

One thing we will be doing in the weeks to come is making corrections on the previous 4 issues and getting them ready to print as regular comics as well as a trade paperback. So we’ll be keeping you updated on that as it progresses.

Once we restart the series with # 5, we do want to take it to full color and make more use of the new technology we have for enhancing the art.

And so The Haunted Man storyline comes to an end, finally after 16 years in the making! What a way to wrap it all up! After reorganizing all the previous published and unpublished pages we had enough for 9 pages of this 4th issue, so we only had to finish up the other 23 pages! No problem if you can do it full time! But when the writer and artist also have full-time and part time jobs too boot 23 pages can be somewhat of an undertaking!

Freazie White, Jr. and Mark Poe plotted this one on the phone 16 years ago but did not have it down on paper until this year when Mark did breakdowns on letter size paper folded in half to simulate comic book pages only smaller. Once roughed out he scanned the sketches and emailed those to Freazie who started scripting. Freazie emailed the pages as he finished while Mark worked on the art. Mark had to pencil, ink and letter these. The plan was to try to stay with the Image Comics style which Christopher Torres and Mark had begun with in issue 3 and which was carried over in the opening chapters of issue 4. Those pages that were completed 16 years ago. It became apparent there was no way Mark could do 5 pages of complete art and lettering a week with his other commitments as well, so we settled on 3 a week.

Now it’s done. The art is a bit rough in places and we’ll probably touch it up some before we go to press but the story is there. Hope you all enjoyed it.

So where does Project: New Man go from here. Well, tune in Monday for our inside back cover to find out. We’ll wrap up the issue with the color back cover on Wednesday, Christmas Eve!

WOW! Now that’s the way to take care of a super villain! Don’t beat him up just get him to be introspective for a moment so he’s focused on how he really see’s himself and use Quantum Physics to revert him to his former state! When has that ever been done in super-hero comics? I can’t remember once! Notice Dave’s attitude, he has clearly made a leap to a new level not only in his powers but in his though processes. This is truly a new day for…uhh… New Man, eh?

As we approach the end of The Haunted Man storyline we have wrapped up all the lose ends for this storyline. The series, however, still has some unanswered questions and some subplots which have yet to be resolved.

Monday‘s Page! New Man,  has evolved  as an indirect result of a trap set by Ebenezer Baal A.K.A. Hubert Rolph. Having used his new amplified mastery of the Unified Field to repair damages amongst his friends and heal their wounds, now he turns his attention to  Dr. Rolph! Will he take revenge on Rolph for the hurt and pain he has caused? Does this twist in the The Haunted Man saga surprise you?

Friday‘s Page!

Ah! Now we know Dave Davison a.k.a. New Man is and has been all along a Humant! It wasn’t the government experiment at all which gave birth to New Man but the cosmic being known as Omnispawn. And now with his latest visitation Dave has gained even more mastery of the Unified Field. He can do almost anything, including repairing clothes and bodies it seems. And the way he’s floating around seems to indicate he’s gotten past that having to “leap to simulate flight” thing too. He can even sense the approaching of the fighting mad Cyber-Tech! But if you think that’s something just wait ’til you see what happens next! Hint: I would not want to be Hubert Rolph!

Wednesday‘s Page!

He made it! Dave Davison a.k.a. New Man been tested and tried and has come through the fire! What Hubert Rolph a.k.a Ebenzer Baal meant for New Man’s destruction has turned to Dave’s benefit! Often times when we go through trials, that’s what happens, if we don’t give in to despair and quit before the pressure has time to bring about a change for the better. Diamonds are made from intense heat and pressure on carbon after a long period of time. When a baby is born there is 9 months of discomfort and changes then a final burst of pain and pressure and a new life comes into the world! One which had been there for months but developing until the proper time! Dave thought he had arrived with the first stages of success with Project: New Man. Heck, he thought just surviving that was a great victory! But now he sees the evolution had only begun. What could possibly be next?

Monday‘s Page! Fawn,  has been freed by Nick from the bonds of Ebenezer Baal A.K.A. Hubert Rolph. The villain himself has been handcuffed by Bearcat. Suddenly like before, the experiment comes to an end, no doubt thanks to the surprise visit of none other than Omnispawn on the previous page. But as Bearcat opens the catch to the Birth Chamber, but what of New Man? What do Fawn, Nick and Bearcat see? We’ll see Wednesday!

Looks like Hubert Roth/Ebenezer Baal’s schemes have not gone exactly as planned! And who do we have showing up for the very first time in the pages of this book? Wednesday‘s Page!

Could things get any worse for Dave Davison A.K.A New Man? Hubert Rolph who as we’ve found out is the Crime Lord Ebenezer Baal has set, what seems to be ,the perfect trap. He has rebuilt the chamber that birthed New Man in the original Project experiment, trapped him there and now has begun a process to de-evolve him back to his former state as David “Killer” Kane. It seems there is nothing Bearcat can do about it. But things are not always as they appear…
