Here we have the Inside Back Cover to Project: New Man #3 which shows a preview of #4′s cover. I came up with this Next Issue page along with the inside front for Humants # 3 and Freazie loved it so much, he wanted it on every issue thereafter. So I thought, “Well, since the two series will cross over why not use it in New Man’s book as well?” Why not indeed?

The cover for the next issue pretty much outlines what is to come. This is the preliminary rough cover, the finished cover will be…more finished, with color and the whole 10 yards! So stay tuned.

Tomorrow we complete our showcasing of issue # 3 with the Outside Back Cover, we’ll take the weekend off from updating, hopefully to get caught up on some of the web site work, then begin Project: New Man #4! Yes! This is the one we’ve been waiting for! Hah! I love this job!

I wish I could remember the details of how Christopher Torres came to us. We got a lot of submissions through the U.S. Mail. We also talked to a lot of new talent at the cons. When Freazie and I put our heads together we do good too get half a memory for such details between the two of us!

Christopher sent us two sample pages and we loved his work! His style was reminiscent of Jim Lee and Rob Liefield, the hot artists at Marvel in the early nineties. We needed help and so after a plotting session or two between Freazie and myself and with Chris, he was off to the races. It didn’t take him long to whip out 20 pages of tight pencils which you just got to read in this issue of Project: New Man #3 and he has more coming in #4.

Don’t be surprised if these turn up inked and dialogued as part of a New Man story soon! Maybe we’ll be fortunate enough to have some more work from him in the months ahead.

Here’s a single page adventure Nathan Massengill did for us back in the day. I showed a smaller version of this in on eof the earlier MCG Blogs. I don’t know what inspired it, but I’ve always liked this page showing our hero in a liesure setting. After what he just went through with Cyber-Tech that’s a big switch, and since I know what he’s about to go through it’s a small reprieve, to say the least. So let’s enjoy it while we can!

Of course this is not part of The Huanted Man story line but we had a couple extra slots to fill on this issue and I wanted you to see the larger size version of this page.

We have a special page for Christopher Torres pencils on slate for tomorrow, so don’t go away, it’s sure to be a nice treat as well! Then I’ll show you the inside back cover with a peek at next issue’s cover, also by Mr. Torres, and then the colorful back cover by our own Allan Lewis. Next Monday we’ll begin Project: New Man #4. This features not only some more never before published art from Christopher Torres, circa 1992, but also some brand new 2008 art from yours truly! Freazie gets to finish the script and we tie up a lot of loose ends in this issue as The Haunted Man concludes. We find out the true identity of Ebeneezer Baal! Have you guessed who he is yet. He is someone who has been in the New Man story line and we have dropped clues here and there. This issue also has more of  Bearcat in action again, we see the abduction of Fawn and Nick, Cyber-Tech escapes and there is a special secret surprise guest-star! HAH! Yeah, this one has it all!

• Project: New Man #3 – The Full Length story from Legacy Comics 1991-1992 Black and White independent Comic Publishing venture. Featuring never before published material!

The tale we call The Haunted Man began late one night in Project: New Man #1. While on patrol in the city of New Harbour, New Man overheard the aimless braggadocio conversation of congregated street hoods. The name Ebenezer Baal had been at the center of the conversation. It was an alias of one incredibly elusive crime lord, whose true identity remained a mystery.

New Man made his way to the warehouse and was met by an ambush. Better than a dozen heavily armed men had found New Man’s Unified Field to be more than a match for their armament, alas, Baal himself had managed to escape.

A young costumed adventurer called Bearcat arriving on the scene, spots Baal’s timely exit and follows Baal to his hideout. Being somewhat new to the heroing business, the ofttimes presumptuous Bearcat soon finds himself face to face with Cyber-Tech, a cybernetic lackey of Baal’s.  Cyber-Tech holds a grudge against the Thunderhawks (New Man’s trainers) and is intent on their destruction. No one, not even Bearcat or New Man, will stand in the way of the cyborg’s goals!

His actual identity is as much a mystery as what drives him. We find out in this origin tale Dave was not always a hero, and it seems his past is easily as shady as the criminals he now pursues! Co-Starring The Thunder Hawks!

• Humants #2 – The lead story in Legacy Comics 1992 Black and White 48 page Independent Comic: Humants!

The Humants, The Herald, Magistar, and Man Ark are introduced to and must enter into deadly battle with Megeddon, the Dark Lord of the Hecati and his chief servant, the powerhouse called Devastax! Their goal: no less than total world destruction! The Herald is intent on stopping them as he administers the judgment called The Experience which he recently found out from Omni Spawn is his destiny to perform. Mageddon, is not very cooperative!

Krystal McCliston, investigative reporter for the TV show A Cyrstal View, tries to capture the action on video while dodging falling debris. This, it turns out, is good practice in survival when she later comfronts a new villain: The Tower!

Introducing also in this issue Janeta Rosebud of Rosebud Diversified Financial who will soon meet Omni Spawn and things will never again be the same!

His name is Megeddon, Dark Lord of the Hecati and his chief servant, the powerhouse called Devastax!

Krystal McCliston is an investigative reporter looking into these mysteries as she learns there are “Humants Among Us!”

The Humants are by no means mutants by another name. The series, is about a loose-knit band of characters from diverse walks of life who have been summoned to partake of an incredible power called Khosmotic. This enigmatic force re-creates its chosen, not mutates, and gradually conforms them into its own image. Thus it’s chosen become Khosmotic Warriors. They are the appointed of the Khosmotic Conjunction. The team’s base of operations is in the in the Five Lakes Megalopolis area and more specifically Municipal City.

Today’s page is the last of this chapter of The Haunted Man. Dave and the Thunder Hawks ponder Cyber-Tech’s links to Ebeneezer Baal and Devlin Robotics. It’s beginning to look like there is much more to this than New Man just tracking a clever crime lord.

We have a couple special pages and the backcovers coming up then next week on to Project: New Man #4!

When things look like they are darkest, that’s often when something happens to turn the tide. He’s heard that kind of thing all his life. At one time David “Killer” Kane would have mocked the chances of miraculous last minute saves. More likely, he would have acknowledged, if anything could go wrong it would! His Special Forces training in ‘Nam, allowed him to only trust in his own abilities and training, never on any one else and certainly not in anything remotely resembling hope or faith. But that was before David “Killer” Kane was transformed into New Man. Since that time he has lived in a state of amazing events he would never imagined in his wildest dreams!

The epic battle between Cyber-Tech and New Man continues! Dave looks like he’s starting to lose ground to the fury of the mad cyborgs attack! But the battle isn’t over yet, The Thunder Hawks may be the cavalry charging to Dave’s rescue in this one. They will try anyway!

Tomorrow we’ll find out some more revelations concerning Cyber-Tech and his origin which will show he has strong ties to… Ah, let’s wait until then to find out. I don’t want to spoil the plot for you.

Cyber-Tech in his battle with New Man has been partially disabled, but he’s not down for the count yet! The clearly insane cyborg has transferred all his anger and hatred to Dave.

Wondering what’s happened to The Thunder Hawks? Don’t fret, they have not abandoned our hero as you will see on tomorrow’s page. I think Christopher really did a nice job with these action/battle scenes! What do you think?

New Man is still in his jogging outfit in case you just came back from vacation and wondered where his uniform is.

It looks like New Man is pressing the advantage against his larger opponent Cyber-Tech, but then the tide turns… or does it? We’ll see tomorrow.
