Mega Tales # 1 Inside Front Cover
Welcome! Today’s update for Mega Tales #1 is what will be the inside front cover for the printed edition. We feature some more art and a foreword by Mark Poe. The art is from 1987, when the original story was done, but with 2009 digital color. The art for Tess was inspired greatly by the works of John Byrne and Terry Austin who were very popular throughout the ’80′s at Marvel on such titles as The Uncanny X-Men and Fantastic Four. Some influence from the King, Jack Kirby is present too, more so in the use of large panels than anything else at this point in Mark’s career. There is also a non-comics influence which creator/writer Greg Legat suggested from Patrick Nagel, an American artist who created popular illustrations most of which emphasize the simple grace and beauty of the female form, in a distinctive style descended from Art Deco. He is best known for his illustrations for Playboy magazine, and the pop group Duran Duran, for whom he designed the cover of the best selling album Rio.
Monday we will have the Mega Comics Group Weekly Blog Update and then Wednesday be back here for page 1 of Tess! Have a good weekend!
